Event Title:

Design and Construction of Water Retaining Structures


The course will cover the design and the construction aspects and methodologies related to the reinforced concrete and pre-stressed concrete water retaining structures as per BS8007 and BS 8110. The course will compare the salient features with respect to the design of water retaining structures to EC2-Part3. The course will also cover some tutorials and a Chartered Membership Examination Question of IStructE on water tank design Rajavel Inbarajan is a Chartered Structural Engineer and an Examiner for the prestigious Chartered Membership Examination of the Institution of Structural Engineers, UK. He has more than 20 years of industry experience in the design, construction, site supervision, investigation/assessment of structures and project management of very large civil & structural engineering projects in Singapore, Qatar, UAE and KSA. He holds a Master Degree in Concrete Structures obtained from the world renowned Imperial College London. He had conducted Courses/Workshop in Advance Structural Engineering with emphasis on the preparation of the Chartered Membership Examination of IStructE, Water Retaining Structures and Investigation and Retrofitting of Concrete Structures in Malaysia and Singapore in the recent past.

Participating Universities: (Texas A&M University - College of North Atlantic - Carnegie Mellon University - Qatar University) The workshop is intended for civil and structural engineers, and associated professionals concerned with the state-of-the-art design, construction and monitoring of structures. Participants will be from consultants, researchers, contractors and regulatory authorities.
