1. Introduction.
First of all, the ‘Back X-archive system’ is a program use to send data in a form of a zipped archive
to the specified FTP server. Furthermore, the ‘Back X-archive system’ is a program, which consists
of two modules.

The ‘Back X-Configuration’ module executes following functions:


• adds file directories to archive;
• enters parameters of a connection to a FTP server;
• enters parameters of e-mail.
The ‘Back X-Archive Engine’ module executes following functions:
• archives data;
• sends data to the FTP server;
• sends messages to the e-mail address, consisting of two massages (including OK-log and
Error-log).
2. System Requirements.
Correct functionality of the program requires users to install a virtual machine – version 1.5 Java (or
higher), which can be downloaded from:
• http://www.java.com
• http://www.java.sun.com
Operating System Requirements :
• MMS Windows 98/Me/2000/XP/Vista or higher;
• Mac OS 10.x or higher
• Linux
3. Program Configuration.
The ‘Back X-Configuration’ module has to be executed in order to configure properly the ‘Back X-
archive system’. The files, which will be archived, have to be added to the ‘edit list’.
Next, the information which is related to the parameters of the connection has to be added in the
‘configuration’ bookmark, in the following order:

• address of FTP server;
• user of FTP server;
• password of FTP server;
• `working directory’
Caution! This option is not required in most cases – user can leave the spaces empty.
However, some configuration of FTP servers exact entering manually ‘working directory;
• The FTP archive directory – It is a folder added to the FTP server, where the archive is sent
to.
• Entering the parameters for the e-mail is optional. If any of the spaces are left empty, user
will not receive a massage via the e-email. The massage is stored in the directory (log
directory), where Back X-archive system is installed.
4. Adding the program to The Task Schedule.
Automation of the archive process (data of ‘Back X-archive system’) consists in adding the file
Back X-Archive Engine.jar to the system schedule (Windows) or Crona (Linux). However, the type
of an operating system determines the start configurations of the ‘Back X-Archive Engine’ module.
Further information can be found in this document.
Configure time schedule in the following order:
• Add the file Back X- Archive Engine.jar to the system schedule (Windows) or Crona
(Linux);
• Set the Launch Schedule for the ‘Back X-Archive Engine’. The type of an operating system
determines the start configurations of the ‘Back X-Archive Engine’ module.
