2.1 All physicians orders are carried out and implemented within time frame set forth in this guideline to ensure timeless of care in accord with accepted clinical practice guidelines and care plan. 3. SCOPE 3.1 This policy is applicable to all patient care unites in Gulf Diagnostic Center hospital. 4. RESPONSIBILITY 4.1 Physician 4.2 Registered/Practical Nurses 5. PROCEDURE: 5.1 For urgent orders: ordering physician writes the order and endorses to Charge Nurse/Incharge nurse as applicable. 5.2 For orders that require immediate administration of a drug: If drug is available in the floor stock, then medication is administered after ensuring implementation of policy on safe medication practice. If the medicine required is not in the floor stock, Charge Nurse transcribes in the computer for order of medicine from the pharmacy. Medicines for stat orders should be administered within 30 minutes from the time of its prescription. If medicine for stat administration requires a physician to administer. He/she is informed of the stat order and estimated time of availability of the drug. 5.3 For urgent diagnostic examinations: Charge Nurse/Nurse in charge of the patient encodes in the computer and call the diagnostic unit informing them of the urgency of the test. 5.4 Regular orders: All physicians orders are carried out within one hour. 6.
