He is a specialist in black and white photography, and has won several awards including the PATA Gold Award in 1987. The third recipient, T.N.A. Perumal is the doyen of wildlife photography in India. He embraced bird photography as passionate profession in 1960 and was awarded the artiste FIAP in Nature Photography in 1963 and Excellence FIAP in 1968. He won associate ship of Royal Photographic Society of United Kingdom in 1977 and Fellowship of Royal Photographic Society of United Kingdom in 1978 and Master photographer of the Federation delArt photographique of France in 1983. He is recognized as the Father of Indian Photography.

May Youssou Ndour, Kaija Saariaho received Polar Music Prize 2013
Senegalese singer Youssou Ndour and Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho were named as the recipients of Polar Music Prize 2013. Each winner will get one million kronor (98,600 Euros) from the Royal Swedish Academy of Music. The awards will be presented at a Stockholm ceremony on 27 August 2013 by King Carl XVI Gustaf. Sweden's highest musical honor is awarded annually to both a pop performer and classical artist.

Lydia Davis won the Man Booker International Prize for 2013
American writer Lydia Davis won 2013 Man Booker International Prize for her innovative and influential writing. The winner of the Prize was announced at the awards ceremony at Victoria and Albert Museum in London on 22 may 2013. This was the fifth Man Booker. International Prize. Well-known Kannada author U.R Ananthamurthy was the only Indian to be shortlisted for the prestigious award.
