Guidelines for Special Submission
Cutting Edge Technology and Appropriate Technology Sub-Categories
1. OBJECTIVE
This category of submission refers to special projects which study and apply, or develop cutting edge
technologies and appropriate technologies in real buildings. I t is aimed at promoting the development of
cutting edge technologies and energy efficiency-related innovations together with ASEAN wisdom that will
later benefit the development of energy efficiency know-how among ASEAN countries. The Special
submission shall consider two sub-categories:
1. Cutting edge technologies and
2. Appropriate technology relevant to the development of EE&C in Member Countries.
2. TYPE AND NATURE OF PROJECT FOR SPECIAL SUBMISSION
Special submissions are projects which involve significant development in the field of energy efficiency in
buildings. Such development may be achieved in the areas of equipment, material, system applications,
design and management processes. Such development and innovation must be demonstrated through
actual application in real project (s). To qualify under Special Submission, a project must involve the use of
appropriate materials, equipment and processes. Special focus will be given to projects which seek to
promote and develop ASEAN wisdom which are of particular relevance to ASEAN countries in terms of
regional interests.
3. GENERAL GUIDELINES AND CONDITIONS FOR SPECIAL SUBMISSIONS
a. Each country can submit only one (1) project under each sub-category for consideration of the
Board of Judges.
b. The project must satisfy the objectives and scope of Special Submissions as detailed in (1) and
(2) above
c. The applicant must submit a short proposal of not more than 10 pages to the Local Board of
Judges of each member country for consideration at its Preliminary Meeting. The proposal should
contain the following:

i. Objectives of the project
ii. Detailed description of the project
iii. The special contributions and benef its of the project to the nations
iv. The special contributions and benef its of the project to the ASEAN Region
v. The special contributions and benefits of the project to the International Development of
EE&C
vi. Other relevant information
Upon successful endorsement by the Local Board of Judges at its own Preliminary Meeting, the intended
applicant shall be notified, and instructed to give a full entry based on the information provided in (c) for
judging at the ASEAN Judging Meeting.
