National Examination (UN) is an annual test which is held by government for primary school up to senior high school.

Government has decided to implement national exams as a kind of evaluation of education. It is as a nationally education quality controller and determines wether student can pass and continue the higher education. Currently, the implementation of national exam is not appropriate with its former purpose. So, is the National Examnitaion the best way to prove the quality of education? The positive sides, National Examination is most important to evaluate national education standard and finally it can make our education quality better. Without National Examintaion, the education in Indonesia doesnt have a standard to measure how far it gets the success. So, every schools and students have their spirit to get a good result from national examination to save their good name Beside that, National Examination is to measure the ability of students, to average the ability of the students, and to getting higher and hgher grade of students score every year finally it can make the education of Indonesia become better. Apart from its positive sides, National Examinationhave negative sides. On the negative side, National Examination makes government spends approximately 600 billion rupiahs just for it. It is included for paper for the tests, answers sheets, printing the test, budged for paying the supervisors, correction, etc. Well, this large of money is too much to be spent only for UN because the implementation of UN it self is bad. Its better if the money for the UN is used for repairing and developing the schools which have not enough facility in order to develop our education itself. If all schools have good facilities, automatically, the learning activity will implement with good also. Besides, some people also think that UN act as the base of determining factor for entering the next level of education. This is actually a mistaken thought because there is no university would allow any student enter to it without any tests. Almost all of the requirement college students should have to pass a certain test such as written test. As a result, its confused about the function of UN itself. So,

UN seems like a useless obligation that we must follow because we do not have other choices. To sum up, The implementation of national exam nowadays is uneffective and unefficient. It spends a lot of money. Its better if National Examination should be used as a benchmark to go to the higher level education and should be held with a spotifitas by everyone. So the existence of National Examination is not useless.
