COMPOSITION COMPETITion 2014

$1000 PRIZE
Bachelor of Music undergraduates from any Australian tertiary institution are invited to enter the inaugural Duo Entendre Composition Competition 2014. Applicants will be required to submit a composition of up to 5 minutes duration for the instrumentation of horn and piano.

Entry form: available from www.duoentendre.com/competition 3 bound copies of the Full score in Concert Pitch on A4 paper. 1 bound copy of the Horn Part in F on A4 paper.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS


1. The Competition is open to all current Bachelor of Music undergraduates in Australia. 2. The work must be an original composition for horn and piano* created during the composers undergraduate studies. *Stuart & Sons 102 key Concert Grand - see Stuart and Sons website for specifications. 3. The work must not have won any other competition. 4. Composers may write in any style; no preference shall be given to compositions in any particular style. 5. The work can be of any style providing that the score is legibly notated with computer software (electronics and prepared piano can be utilised providing clear instructions are given). 6. The name of the composer or any other possible means of identification should not appear on the submitted composition. A valid entry is an unmarked (as to author) score attached to, but removable from the entry form. 7. Scores are to be spiral or comb bound. 8. For each composition a separate entry fee and form must be submitted. 9. Duration is to be no more than 5 minutes. There is no minimum time limit. 10. In the event of the winning work being published, the composer is to acknowledge Duo Entendre and the Duo Entendre Composition Competition 2014. 11. Duo Entendre reserves the right to have other works from the entries performed at a presentation concert. 12. The prize will be administered by Duo Entendre who will appoint a panel to judge the compositions and to recommend a winning work. 13. Duo Entendre reserve the right to withhold the award if in the opinion of the panel no entry of sufficient merit is received. 14. All judging will be on the basis of assessment of scores. 15. Duo Entendre will exercise reasonable care with the scores submitted but will not be responsible for any loss or damage to any score while in its custody. 16. Scores will be returned after the Competition if they are accompanied with a self-addressed and stamped envelope. 17. Duo Entendre may make additional enquiries regarding any matter contained in an application. Duo Entendre may in its absolute discretion determine whether an applicant is qualified to enter and whether an application satisfies the conditions of the Duo Entendre Composition Competition 2014. 18. The decision of Duo Entendre will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
