Assignment

Title Type

Exploring 32-bit and 64-bit processor architecture This assignment is to be conducted in a group of two. The groups are randomly formed by the lecturer/course coordinator. The objectives of this assignment are: To understand the 32-bit and 64-bit processor architecture To distinguish between the 32-bit and 64-bit processor architecture To explore the processor that implement the 32-bit and 64-bit processor architecture To compare the implementation of the 32-bit and 64-bit processor architecture
In todays computer market, you will notice the existence of 32-bit and 64-bit processor architecture. Using the Internet or relevant resources (book, etc.), find out: 1. What 32-bit and 64-bit processor architecture mean? 2. How they affect the buses width (data and address), memory addresses, RAM size, register, integer size and file size? 3. Discuss the compatibility issues of the 32-bit and 64-bit processor. 4. The background, history, features and application of x86 and Advanced RISC Machine/Acorn RISC Machine (ARM). 5. Explain six (6) differences between x86 and ARM. Prepare a report that answers all the points above in not more than 5 pages, with Times New Roman size 12 font and 1.5 spacing.
