Profile
I arrived in Australia about 18 months ago and have worked as a Coal Sampler, Coal mine receptionist and
Dump Truck Driver. I offer the ability to work within a team or autonomously. I am a friendly, organised,
methodical, motivated, fit, mature woman, with the ability to get along with most people. Ability to generate and
maintain records, reports, order, secure and maintain equipment and supplies, and comply with all
administrative policies and legislation.
I have completed my S1, G8, G9, G2 and have booked with SHARP training in Moranbah to complete a
Trainer Assessor Course later in the month.
I am keen to up-skill, gaining more knowledge within the Coal industry. I also intend to complete training in the
Health, Safety and Environment after completing the TAA course, as most of my past experience has been as
a New Zealand Police officer (14 years). I am specialised in the following fields Community Policing, Youth
Aid, Youth Education, Forensics and General Duties), requiring a numerous variety of skills particularly related
to Health and Safety. Most of these roles involved a more ‘Pro active” approach to Policing as well as teaching
clients both externally (parents, teachers, work mates, children and professionals at all levels), however
general duties and Forensics involved a more investigative approach where I was involved in the day to day
and serious scene examinations ie murders/rapes etc.
Eventually after gaining more Operating experience I would be keen to utilise all my past skills and new skills I
gain from working in the Coal industry.
Professional Experience
Booked in with SHARP TRAINING to complete the Training and Assessor Course on 20-22 July 2009

Key Achievements
Obtained Forensic “Hit” award from ESR (Environmental Science Research Wellington) for
detecting offenders through fingerprint lifts.
Oversaw serious crime scenes with regard to rapes/aggravated robberies and other scenes when
appropriate.
Worked as part of an extremely dedicated forensic unit alongside ESR (forensic experts) on
serious crime scenes i.e. homicides
Conducted workshops for fellow offices when necessary, briefings (toolboxes) to upskill officers
individually if necessary.
Collected and mapped out information identifying ‘hot spots’ or areas prone to
incidents/accidents.
Managed pool of volunteers, community groups to assist in Police duties improving the
dissemination and collection of information.
Successful with youth diversions developing long-term solutions including family members
ensuring support for the youth offender.
Initiated and successfully led a team of colleagues, the army and community members in the
undertaking of Blue Light ventures and Community Projects. This considerably contributed to
‘breaking barriers” between the public (particularly on children and youth) and Police as well as
the promotion of the Army to be considered as a career option.
Continued to build, strengthen and maintain relationships with internal and external agencies.
Continued to grow as an individual and as a team member by learning new skills, as well as
coaching others to grow to their full potential.

largest drug confiscations of the year in the area.
Self- Management

- Taking responsibility as required by work role and ensuring all organisational policies and procedures
were followed.

Group.
- Developed strategies to inform and maintain positive relationships with Neighbourhood support groups.
- Delegated duties where appropriate such as the running of rosters, identifying training needs of
volunteers, updating information, information distribution and any other duties that fit within the volunteer
framework.
- Coaching, upskilling and self-development empowered other police staff to utilise the volunteers for their
core business where appropriate.
- Trained local business owners of “Retailers against Crime” in monthly workshops on information sharing,
reporting and recording, keeping themselves safe, responding to emergency situations. Also kept them up
to date with prolific offenders working within the city at the time.
- Strategise and coached local business managers and staff members on best work practise when placed
in difficult situations i.e. shoplifters/aggravated robbery/ trespassing by creating networks, a phone
contact tree and understanding the police response system.
- Provided advice, direction, supervision and ‘on the job’ training to junior staff, recognised as a positive
role model.
- Promoted, taught and trained various community groups, schools and agencies in the physical and
social indicators of people under the influence of alcohol or controlled drugs. Explained long-term
physical and social affects of drug and alcohol abuse.

teachers and parents to support their children.
Supervisor’s Comments:
• Constable Edmonds has been actively involved in taking a leadership role in Blue Light activities;
school drugs programs and being the police delegate for the Strengthening Families Strategy.
In the area of responsibility clear goals were set and targets reached.
(Sen.Constable F. Moult)
• Constable Edmonds…. worked with the following handicaps - 1) No proper PDs (Police
directions)…2) No proper KRA’s…3) Minimal supervision and working away from the rest of her
group 4) Poor understanding of her proactive work by other Police staff 5) No support from the
Administration for the role she had intensively trained for. 6) Some difficult circumstances “off the
job”.
Despite this she continued to apply herself to the work she was given by me and the work she
obtained through her community contacts. I was entirely happy with her level of application and
results. I was particularly impressed by the standard of her summary reports on file. Dora also
readily made herself available for more than her share of the “Team” work (special events, airport
flights, traffic events, etc).
- Initiated the use of drug dogs in schools in collaboration with Dog personnel and schools within the local
area. Policies had to be recognised and specific steps taken by the school before this could occur. I.e.
signs placed on school gates/entrance ways, board of trustees and parents informed, and the presence of
drugs located within the school grounds or on a student before searches could be carried out.
- Headed serious crime scene investigations regarding rapes, aggravated robberies and other serious
crimes when appropriate.
- Initiated referrals and carried out the Family Group Conference process within Youth Justice, resulting in
sound, manageable alternatives ensuring accountability of the young person to the victim in each case.
- Spearheaded the reintroduction of Blue Light Ventures, which were Community programmes to break
barriers between the Police and the community. These included initiatives such as Blue light discos, one
for primary school children and one for intermediate level students. These included primary / intermediate
age discos, a Blue light all night party, a tribute from the blind foundation to key members in appreciation
for their work, activities in holiday programs.
- Built and maintained effective working relationships with ethnic and cultural groups.
- Maintained and strengthened relationships with community groups, internal and external agencies.
Technology
- Developed computer skills experienced in MS word, EXCEL, Outlook, MS office, forensic police system,
PHRIS, Wanganui, INCIS.
- Using technology to assist the management of information and to assist the planning process.
- Using risk analysis tools and tools for police safety research.
- Collecting, collating and analysing information using appropriate workplace business systems.
- Planning and managing resource acquisition and deployment within budgetary constraints.
- Spearheaded the use of Community Patrols on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings around the
Central Business District and neighbouring areas, as well as the monitoring of CCTV on a 24-hour basis.
- Initiated and instigated throughout local schools “therapeutic storytelling intervention”, a program
eventually brought by the NZ Police renamed “Dare to make Change”. This program was designed by a
psychologist to be used for troubled teenagers on the boarder of getting into trouble testing the
boundaries at school, home and in the community. I found this program to be very enlightening and often
difficult as the tool were a book of stories of a boy on a journey through the land of confusion (teenage to
man/womanhood), which was fantasy based as the youth would inevitably identify with the boy and his
experiences.
Correspondence
- Consistently recognised on both oral and written evaluations as “exceeding expectations” with relation to
orderliness, timeliness, patience and the ability to communicate effectively with people at their level. Ie
children/ youth, parents, teachers, administrators, and managers.
- Developed new contracts for Youth Aid Staff to utilise when preparing youth diversions, which assisted
the offender and family in making appropriate decisions for reparation to the victim.
- Developed Juvenile photograph portfolio to assist staff in the identification of prolific juvenile offenders,
updating when necessary.
Supervisor’s comments:
• All correspondence presented in a timely, orderly and tidy manner. Makes full use of all
resources, Dictaphone, typist, word processor without hesitation – has developed new forms to
aid correspondence i.e. contracts. (Sgt D. Grey 1994)
Personal Performance
- Approached tasks, challenges difficult situations in a positive, dependable & energetic manner.
Supervisor’s comments:
Has taken on complicated and seldom used procedures (e.g. place of safety warrants) with a keen
interest in finding out and learning what is involved and follows procedures through to the end.
Is always seeking out new skills that will assist her carrying out duties or functions. Takes on board
methods adopted by others. Discusses work, outlining progress and the direction intends to take. Will
seek clarification when necessary but generally makes sound decisions and follows instructions without
problem.
(Sgt D. Grey)
Problem Solving
- Identifying hazards, assessing and controlling risk through appropriate control measures.
- Recognised the potential that environmental design of a community could have on crime trends
and general offending. Collaborated with local business owners and council to have alleyways
fenced where possible in the evening when not used, trees removed/planted if necessary and
anything else that was appropriate in contributing to making the city safer.
Supervisor’s comments:
• Attending home visits – always finds root of problem rather than placing sticking plaster over it.
• Always willing to compromise if solution is more appropriate or better for long-term results.
• Member has shown that she is more than capable of getting the result she wants. A good
mediator – able to leave all parties (victim and offender) with a sense of fairness yet maintains a
firm line.
• Arranges diversions to include children and parents taking positive steps within own community
resources.
Teamwork
- Achieved positive results and reduction in crime through effectively working as a leader and member of
a team.
- Utilised natural and learned interpersonal skills effectively in-group and individual situations.
- Interacted with a wide range of clients including complainants, suspects, witnesses, members of the
public & other police personnel.
- Worked in collaboration with Community Constables locally and throughout NZ regarding problem areas
within our specific communities, sharing information and knowledge about alternatives, which had been
developed and used within their areas, which they deemed to be successful. Utilised these initiatives
when appropriate.
- Continually displayed behaviour and attributes that demonstrate understanding and empathy with
internal and external individuals and organisations. This required communication and cooperation with
others, including consultation, sharing information, networking, giving advice and feedback.
Supervisor’s comments:
• Always enthusiastic towards work commitments. Seems to enjoy a challenge and can be relied upon to
produce the required result. Requires minimal supervision. Not afraid to say what she thinks which results in
disputes being sorted out as quickly as possible. (Detective Sen. Sgt J Lyons)
• Relates well with both work colleagues and members of the public that she comes into daily contact with.
Regularly leastes with other sections within the Police, to provide them with the feedback that they require.
Will alter shifts to meet requirements o other staff and the section as a whole. (Senior Constable R Walker
Forensics).
• Always more than willing to assist other workers when necessary, and always does so in a caring and
professional manner. Does not put people down. Prepared to be flexible with work practises, and often
works extended hours when required. Is subjected to regular call-backs due to nature of job. ((Senior
Constable R Walker Forensics).
