This illusion could be knit as is for a dishcloth, or incorporated into a scarf, shawl or a yoga mat
bag for the yogis in your life!

Chart Details
All odd-numbered rows are knit. The even-numbered rows are knit or purled to bring out
the image.

Read the chart from bottom to top. Odd-numbered rows are read from right to left; even-
numbered rows are read from left to right.

Red rows are worked in MC; white rows and blue squares are both worked in CC (the blue
squares are there only so you can see what the image will look like – they do not indicate a color
change).

Gauge
23 sts and 38 rows = 10 cm (4") in 4 row repeats of 2 rows garter stitch and 2 rows stockinette
stitch

You’ll need:
 2 colors of yarn in worsted weight (1 skein of each), a main color or MC (background) and
a contrasting color or CC (image). In the sample picture, MC is grey and CC is blue.
 4.0 mm (US 6) needles

Instructions for a dishcloth or scarf

Cast on 40 stitches in MC. Change colors after every 2 nd row, carrying the yarn up the side.

Work chart until complete. For a scarf, repeat chart until desired length is reached.

Bind off.
