Table Missing in 2000 IRC

If you have a question regarding interpreting the 2000
International Residential Code, please contact us. We will
assist you with a code opinion in relation to Minnesota
amendments. Recently a question came up which highlights
the importance of checking for errata to the model codes.
Table R308.3. Minimum Category Classification of Glazing
for Human Impact Loads was missing from the first printing
of this code. This table is printed on the errata sheets for the
2000 IRC and can be found in the 2003 edition of the IRC
(same table number). Code errata sheets are posted at:
http://www.iccsafe.org/cs/codes/errata.html.

Also, the code refers to the “Consumer Products Safety

Commission 16 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part
1201,” as the referenced document which also explains the
difference between Category I and Category II glazing.
Code of Federal Regulations are located at: http://
