Q9: Explain how you developed your completed sequenced arrangement from your chosen stimulus. Refer to at least two of the following: melody, harmony, rhythm, texture and instrumentation, form and structure. Harmony: Ive developed the harmony in my arrangement by extending the chords by adding 7ths, for example the first two chords are C7, and G7. Theyre different from the original chords as the first two chords in the original are C5, and G5. In the bridge, Ive brought the song up a tone, from Cm to Dm, by bringing the song up a tone can give the same parts of the piece a little twist. Rhythm: The rhythm from my piece was loosely based on the song I Feel Love by Donna Summer. For example, the bass line of my piece used arpeggios, which was what the bass line of I Feel Love did. Ive used different types of rhythms for the drum to build up the piece, for example, through out the whole song the kick is playing four-on-the-floor beat, the snare is playing every two beats, and the open hats playing a semi-quaver beat. In the verse, pre-chorus, theres a closed hats playing four-on-the-floor beat, but in the chorus theres another closed hats playing off-beat quarter. Therere also handclaps playing quarter beat in the bridge. Theres also a synth playing in semi-quaver through out the whole piece, which plays a G at the beginning, then A because Ive brought up a tone. Form and structure: At the beginning of my piece, Ive used a similar intro as the song I Feel Love, the synth faded in then the bass and the drum come in. And then the verse comes in, then it follows the flow of the song Rolling In The Deep. What different is, Ive put a bridge in between the first chorus and the second verse. Ive used the melody that the backing vocals are singing (theyre singing: Now Im gonna wish you never had me, tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep) as the main melody of the bridge (at 1:01), and then bring up a tone. At the end of the piece, Ive chosen to use a fade out to finish my piece because thats what I Feel Love has done. In I Feel Love the song had only drum and bass left then it faded out.

Q10 Identify the most important features of your chosen style, and explain how you have used them in your arrangement. -One feature of disco song that Giorgio Moroder created is that he used repetitive arpeggio. In my piece, I've used repetitive arpeggio in the bass line, the bass line playing C,C,Bb, and C, and then it changed to G,G,F and G, the arpeggio chord keep going on through out the piece. -The other one is it has a repetitive bass line in the song, and my piece, my bass line keep playing the same arpeggio rhythm through out the whole piece. -There's a weird shale noises in Giorgio Moroder's song, and I've used a synth to create that weird whale noises at the beginning of the song when the synth fade in (0:00-0:15). -Theres also swirling synth pad in the song I Feel Love, Ive recreated it using ES1 and automation to control the cutoff, in order to get the swirling effect. -Another feature is theres tape delay on stabs, Ive used a quaver delay, and bitcrusher to get the sound of the song. -The last feature is the panning of the song. I Feel Love has used some extreme panning. In my piece, Ive panned the hi-hats phaser from extreme left, to extreme right, then back to extreme left, etc. Ive also used panning in the swell, the swirling pad and the synth that sounds like weird whale at the beginning. They all panned from left, then automated it to the right side.
