What is children literature?

Childrens literature is good quality trade books for children from birth to adolescence, covering topics of relevance and interests to children of those ages, through prose and poetry, fiction and nonfiction. Topic: 1) experiences of childhood set in the past, present, or future (e.g., enjoying birthday parties, anticipating adulthood, getting a new pet, enduring siblings, and dealing with family situations); 2) things that are of interest to children (e.g., dinosaurs, Egyptian mummies, world records) Manner: 1) stories are told in a forthright, humorous, or suspenseful manner (stories that are told in nostalgic or overly sentimental terms are inappropriate); 2) stories should emphasize the hope for a better future rather than the hopelessness and utter despair of the moment.

B) Quality The best childrens books offer readers enjoyment as well as memorable characters and situations and valuable insights into the human condition . Quality of writing: originality and importance of ideas imaginative use of language beauty of literary and artistic style

Children usually enjoy reading fast-moving, adventure-filled, and easily predictable stories. These works have won no literary prizes, but they encourage children to read independently and read more. Cinderella In Cinderella, the theme of the story is that you should treat people the way you would like to be treated and then more good comes out of it than evil. This is the theme because the two evil sisters and the wicked step-mother were really mean to her and when they went out they left poor Cinderella to wash the floor. But then in the end Cinderella gets to be the princes princess and the others didnt get a sniff of it. Good always win in the end despite how evil has been planning & being a good person with a good heart will always get you to what you want. The richer person with the higher statues isnt the better person or more beautiful one and in the end the poorer person will have the better ending. Moreover, everybody will get their prince. The moral to Cinderella is no matter what your situation is- dont give up on your dreams. The moral was probably something about hope and how if youre a good person, your dreams will become a reality. This is also about h ope, faith, enduring, and goodness over selfishness, beauty over ugliness. Its a great fairytale! Good things happen to A Good person! I can write something from my stupid mistakes into good lessons because of my self-awareness and with humble attitude I can expand that idea. I would like to add some more ideas, believe me! Whatever you do, itll cost something or you have to pay the price for that. No matter how much you change, you still have to pay the price for the thing youve done. The good things I do, it will pay me a very pleasant price and the bad things I do, it will pay me a very unpleasant price. People will get what they deserve. Some people are evil and they will deserve what awaits them. So be careful what you wish for!

Hensel and Gretel There is more to Hansel and Gretel story than meets the eye at the first glance. It is interesting to note, how frequently the theme of eating appears in the story. For young children, food and eating is a very important aspect of everyday life and often can be the object of many hidden fears. In Hansel and Gretel, the food theme is apparent throughout the story. The children are driven out of the house because the stepmother claims there isnt enough food. Hansel & Gretel leave a trail of breadcrumbs, but its eaten by the birds. The witchs house made out of gingerbread and the children taste a piece. The witch wants to eat the children, but decides to feed them first to fatten them up. Many common childhood fears are expressed in this tale, from fear of abandonment and hunger to betrayal of trust. The children in this story are betrayed by the grownups they trust the stepmother, the witch, and even their father who fails to protect them. And yet in the end the courage and resourcefulness of Gretel helps the children to successfully overcome all obstacles and even reap a handsome reward, the witchs treasure. Despite the many dangers and threats, most children enjoy the thrill of the story of Hansel and Gretel because it offers a hopeful message that perseverance and resilience will overcome any adversary.

The Dog and the Shadow A dog, crossing a bridge over a stream with a piece of flesh in his mouth, saw his own shadow in the water, and took it for another Dog, with a piece of meat double his own in size. He therefore let go his own, and fiercely attacked the other Dog, to get his largest piece from him. He thus lost both - that which he grasped at in the water, because it was a shadow; and his own, because the stream swept it away. Moral, it is not wise to be too greedy.
