A STUDY OF PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL SYSTEM IN BHARAT ELECTRONICS LIMITED


STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) was established in 1954 as a public-sector enterprise under the administrative control of Ministry of Defence as the fountain head to manufacture and supply electronics components and equipment. BEL, with a noteworthy history of pioneering achievements, has met the requirement of stateof-art professional electronic equipment for defence, broadcasting, civil defence and telecommunications as well as the component requirement of entertainment and medical X-Ray industry. Over the years, BEL has grown to a multi-product, multiunit, and technology driven company with track record of a profit earning PSU. However, over the past five years hence the performance of the BEL has been declining. In the mean while the employee satisfaction about the job in not good condition. Though there have been many reasons which together have contributed to the decline in performance of company. Lack of aware of the reanalysis the performance and reward system is to be one of the key reasons, so company start the reanalyze the performance of the employee the performance of the company.

WHY IS THE TOPIC CHOSEN: I have been an employee of BEL and have observing the decling in performance of BEL. I am deeply concerned with the well being of my goals and would therefore, like to scientifically analyse the reasons and suggest remedial measures to the management.

WHAT CONTRIBUTION WOULD THE PROJECT MAKE AND TO WHOM: Result of my survey and analysis would provide a very useful input to the management of BEL who are already ceased of the problem. They have welcomed my effort and are looking forward to collecting all available data in this respect for examining the problem in totality. OBJECTIVE The following concepts are to be studies: 1. The main aim of my training and project is to find out whether employees are satisfied with PERFORMANCE Appraisal system at BEL. 2. I also tried to find out what important factor people consider about the PERFORMANCE Appraisal and whether the employees are able to align their personal goals with that of the organization.
