中选了 C。AB 没有选是因为名词的 discovery 与动名词的 documenting 不
是那么地平行，用其名词形式的 documenation 更好，而且也是更重要的
是 documenting 前面有一个副词 painstakingly 修饰 documenting，从而说
明 documenting 在这里是作动词，而非与 discovery 并列的动名词。But
unfortunately，给出的正确答案却是 D。我认为 D 显然后面的两个名词并
