GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF TASK(S) AND OBJECTIVES TO BE ACHIEVED

Under the overall supervision of the Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia, the technical supervision of the Rural Infrastructure and Agro-industries Division, Lead Technical Officer, Agricultural Research and Biotechnology Officer, the Field Programme Officer/Budget Holder regarding operational issues and in close collaboration with other project team members and national project partners, the consultant will: In general: 1. Act as a resource person on farm management and marketing in the training workshops and consultation meetings; 2. Prepare and assist in training and awareness raising activities; 3. Contribute to the preparation of quarterly project implementation reports; In particular: 4. Review translations of training materials prepared by international consultants for compliance with technical language in his/her area of expertise; 5. In his/her area of expertise contribute to the implementation of training activities, namely: a. Training to the core team of trainers (TOT); b. Training of Farmer Field Schools/Farmer Business Schools (FFS/FBS) facilitators (farmers and advisors); c. TOT training the lead farmers in FFS/FBS approach; d. Implementation of short winter courses for farmers; e. Practical training of high school students in the pilot centre and participation in FFS; 6. Under the guidance and with the support of International Consultant in Marketing and Business Services Development prepare programme and training materials for training in market analysis, identification of linkage opportunities and provision of demand driven business development services for Centres for Organic Production and extension service; 7. Contribute to design of a general communication concept for organic agriculture (including design of basic promotion material); 8. Contribute to establishment of Internet platform covering producers forum, best practices, market intelligence and e-commerce; 9. Participate in promotional activities and organization of market fairs; 10.Prepare a final report on activities, results, observations and recommendations.
REQUIREMENTS AND SELECTION CRITERIA

Minimum requirements: 1. The consultant should have a degree in economics/agricultural economics with emphasis on farm management. 2. Demonstrated technical skills in implementing development and training programmes in farm management, marketing and related areas. 3. Practical experience relevant to the assignment and good knowledge of farming issues in project area. 4. Working knowledge of English. Selection criteria 5. Field experience, including community learning methods. 6. He/she should have good communication skills and ability to work independently, prioritise task and meet deadlines. 7. Knowledge of information technology tools (MS Word, Excel, Power Point). 8. Ability to communicate in English.
