Top-down processing
When we hear something, it reminds us of our previous knowledge. Lead us to predict the information we are hearing. This will help us to understand what we hear better. Pre-listening activities are introduced to help student to see what they listen related to what they already know
Bottom-up processing
In this process, children listen for meaning. They try to guess the meaning of the unknown or partially heard words form the context. They should be taught to have a whole-to-part focus in their listening.

Relationship Listening

Supporting (Characteristics of supportive listener) Being careful about what they say and do Expressing confidence in the ability of the other person Being able to give others the time they need to express themselves Empathizing See as the other sees, hear as the other hears, feel as the other feels
Appreciative Listening
Presentation encompasses many factors: the medium , the setting, the style and personal of the presenter Perception influence all areas of our lives Previous experience will affect our enjoyment of listening to what we listen.

Hearing ability Awareness of sound structure Integration of non verbal cues
