ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA General Requirements Tank internals are protected by use of a nontoxic vapor phase corrosion inhibitor such as COTEC VCI-309 or 307 or equivalent, (depending on the metallurgy of the tank) applied at a rate of 100 g/m. Inhibitor selected is appropriate for the metallurgy of the tank An alternative to Item A1, temporary coatings in accordance with MIL C6173 Grade IV (example Tectyl 846) or equivalent or a vapor proof bag with moisture control is used. Uncoated internal surfaces of tanks are free of rust. Check the Effectiveness of applied internal protection measure by the mfg. Stainless steel tanks provided with temporary coatings for internal protection have no visible crevice corrosion. (32-SAMSS-030 Para 9.2.4) All internal attachments and components are seal welded. Shop applied coating is free of deficiencies (Check as follows): a. Physical damage (scratches) & uniform in appearance b. Coating pre-mature breakdown (sign of rusting, blister) c. Application related defects such as runs, sags, drips, dry spray or foreign matter d. DFT less than minimum required by the applied coating system Heavy dry spray on application of inorganic zinc primer prohibited. Internal coating of tanks are verified to be holiday free, either by verification of Holiday test Reports orby performing holiday test using wet sponge at 67.5 volts. Paint thickness within 2 m of anode connections are 30% greater than the specified minimum dry film thickness. Anodes are not coated on vessels that are intenally coated. Internal components are installed and fastened.
