HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 9:00 & 10:45A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER Chronological Bible Reading: Song of Solomon 4-6; Philippians 1 Monday, September 23 Job 10:2 I will say unto God, Do not condemn me; show me wherefore thou contendest with me. Dear Lord: I am trying to witness to someone who is going through a trial. This is the hardest time to talk about the gospel, yet the easiest time as well. Hard because some people never make the connection between their trial and your grace. Give them faith in their stormy time, as well as in sunny sky. Let me win souls to you now as well as in the spring. Your gospel is like a candle: the power of its light is proportional to the darkness surrounding it. In that sense it is the easiest time of all for me to witness. Give __________ and __________ hope like a star, because they can discover the light of your good news in the night of adversity. Affliction is often the chariot that carries us to more faith in God. Make me shine better in my own trials so others can see the way to Jesus. It was but a little while ago I was on my knees praying, Lord, increase my faith. Maybe I was unconsciously praying for trials, because I cannot increase my faith unless it is exercised. Only send me troubles Lord, so your grace can be discovered, because grace in the midst of trial makes it no trial at all. I dont want to just discover your grace in the gospel, but to grow in grace by sanctified trials. If you take away my comforts, do it to make me a better witness. Train this soldiernot in tents of ease, but on forced marches. If you make me swim through rivers, and walk many a lonely mile with sorrow in my backpack, then I will have your power. Then I have real grace to proclaim. Make me grow taller so I can reach out farther in my witness for you. Expand my reach for Christ, for the purpose of this life is to accept eternal life from you. Amen. TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS LIFE Chronological Bible Reading: Song of Solomon 7-8; Philippians 2 Tuesday, September 24 John 14:18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Almighty God and Father: You show those who are in error the light of your truth, with the intention they would turn to the way of righteousness in Christ. Since I am in your family, grant today that I may avoid those things contrary to my profession of faith, and follow all those things that agree with it. You alone can bring order to my unruly will and sinful affections. Allow me to love the things you command and desire the things you promise. That way, among all the fads and changes of this present world, my heart will be stable where true joy is to be found, which is through Jesus Christ the Lord. Phil. 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. All good things do come from you. Grant to me, your humble servant, through the ministration of the Holy Spirit today, that I might think on those things that are good, and by your merciful guidance perform them! Grant that, just as I believe your only-begotten Son and my Lord Jesus Christ ascended into heaven, so also may I in spirit and imagination ascend there with him, and dwell in him who lives forever and reigns forever. 1 John 4:15-16 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. O God, leave me not comfortless. Send your Holy Spirit to be with me today, to comfort me while I wait for you to exalt me. To strengthen me with might in the inner man in the outward challenges and changes ahead. Amen. FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY Chronological Bible Reading: Isaiah 7-9; Colossians 1 Friday, September 27 Eph. 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, Lord and Savior, Heavenly Father: We are yours; we belong to the family of Christ and we comprise this body of Christ. That makes us part of your household. We stand among the number of your children, because our names are written down in the covenant you made with Christ to save all who would believe in his name: his name is Jesus (Savior). Lord, we give ourselves up to you and choose Jesus for our eternal reward and our highest good. We see the inability of all others to make us happy, so we take our mission to a higher hope. We behold Christ Jesus in his perfect righteousness and his all-sufficient grace. We put our trust in him and make our own covenant with the Father by the sacrifice of his Son. We draw near to you in your ordinance of baptism, and this Sunday, through the ordinance of the Lords Supper. We will ratify and confirm that holy covenant at the Lords table, as well as having been devoted to you by the initial ordinance of baptism. We give up our own cause and own search for self-satisfaction. And through church membership, we sign-up as it were, with our own hands to be in the Lords army. Lord, we consecrate ourselves now afresh to love you above all things To fear you (that means a hatred of evil and a move to obedience) To hope in you (that means sure certainty of your involvement) And to walk in your ways (that means ministry to others) We will wait for your mercy unto eternal life, thanking you all our days. Give us opportunities today to be able to accomplish the mission of your Great Commission, in reaching the lost, discipling the saved, and equipping the saints to continue what God started, for so we ask it in Jesus name. Amen. WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING Chronological Bible Reading: Isaiah 1-3; Philippians 3 Wednesday, September 25 Rom. 15:19 Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; Most Holy Lord and Father: There is no better predictor of impending pride than living at a distance from you. It is good for me to be weak in myself, but better for me to be nothing! I rejoice in my absolute dependence on you as I pray for the work of the Holy Spirit necessary for revival. That work includes 1. Quickening (making alive) You need to especially be with me, to make alive those I am trying to reach for Jesus. I cry to you to quicken me in everything and all I do. Quicken the word as I drop it into the sinners ear, because the work of the Spirit is also 2. Enlightening As inspired as your word is, it is never understood apart from the Author. I can read it all day and never discover the inner and living sense, unless you lead my soul into it by your Spirit. Spirit of God, make the letter of truth alive to me! Transfer it into my heart. You be my accountability! Errors always emerge where truth is not known experientially. Do I know it by experience, or just in my head? Half the heresy in Christianity comes from not searching the scriptures with a teachable heart, and not submitting to the light of the Holy Ghost. Even a lot of things I think I know become confused when times of trial put me to the test. Make me know what I know by having it burned in my soul by the experiences only the Spirit of God can give. I cannot declare a message I have never learned. Until I have tasted your truth, my lips cannot know power in telling it to others. Feed me the flavor of your fruit so I can labor in your vineyard (2 Tim. 2:6). Make me know your grace and love and truth in such a way I can teach it with power to others. Amen. SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS Chronological Bible Reading: Isaiah 10-12; Colossians 2 Saturday, September 28 Psa. 73:24 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. Father, you have the hearts of all humanity in your hand. Form my heart according to your will, and into the image of your own Son. Be my light and my strength. Make me run in the way of holiness. Let all the means of grace (Bible reading, prayer, meditation, and worship) be continued in me, and be made usable for the great purposes you have appointed them. Proclaim your gospel through me, and let all your providences be sacred. Let your mercies draw me nearer to you, as with the cords of love. Let the several strokes of your afflicting hand wean me from sin, mortify me to this world, and make me ready to depart and be with Christ forever. Guide me by your counsels and secure me by your grace in all my travels through this dangerous wilderness of the world. In the end give me triumph, and an abundant entrance into the kingdom of your Son in glory. But while I am here I wear this body of flesh, and many things are necessary to support my life and make it easy and comfortable. I beg you to bestow these needs and conveniences on me and my family (both my family in the world and family in the faith). Do it so far as is consistent with your own glory and the designs of your grace. Let my health, strength and peace be maintained. Let holiness to the Lord be inscribed on everything, so whatever I receive from your hand can be improved to your honor, and to my own truest advantage. Heal our diseases and pardon our iniquities so our souls may ever bless you. These things we ask in Jesus name, for his sake, and to his glory. Amen. 2 Pet. 1:11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING Chronological Bible Reading: Isaiah 4-6; Philippians 4 Thursday, September 26 Luke 7:9 When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

MY faith has found a resting place, not in device or creed;

I trust the ever living One, His wounds for me shall plead. Enough for me that Jesus saves, this ends my fear and doubt; A sinful soul I come to Him, Hell never cast me out. My heart is leaning on the Word, the living Word of God, Salvation by my Saviors Name, Salvation through His blood. My great Physician heals the sick, the lost He came to save; For me His precious blood He shed, for me His life He gave. I need no other argument, I need no other plea, It is enough that Jesus died, And that He died for me. Eliza E. Hewitt, 1891

HOW TO BUILD A BALANCED LIFE

! INTERCEDE WITH GOD ! INSTRUCT SAINTS ! PROMPT PETITIONS ! KICKSTART DEVOTION

INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the same things over and over. This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the Bible chronologically in a year. Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying. Alan

TIMEWORSHIP Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily devotions. 2) TITHEWORK 1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our resources. 3) TEAMWORD Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

THURSDAY

7:00P.M. Ladies Bible Study in Room 6 Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had prayed. Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition. God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son. Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
