Mercado Orders DENR To Stop Issuing Permits For Quarrying In Subang Daku By Quirico M. Gorpido,Jr.

Maasin City, Southern Leyte-Newly-elected incumbent Governor Roger Mercado, former third termer Congressman, has reiterated his order to DENR to stop issuing permits for quarrying (sand and gravel extractions) in Sogods Subang Daku(Big River).

Mercado stressed that the stoppage in issuing permits is needed so that the plan to delineate the areas for the rechanneling of the meandering big river could be implemented as early as possible.

Based on information gathered from reliable source concerning Subang Dakus length of quarrying of sand and gravel, it has already reached for more than 2 decades now with various permitees enjoying the privilege of extractions from tons of tons of the construction materials.
