ACCEPTANCE ADDRESS BY HIS EXCELLENCY HON. UHURU KENYATTA, C.G.H.

, PRESIDENT AND COMMANDER IN CHIEF OF THE DEFENCE FORCES OF THE REPUBLIC OF KENYA DURING THE MOI UNIVERSITY GRADUATION CEREMONY, MOI UNIVERSITY, UASIN GISHU COUNTY, 19TH SEPTEMBER, 2013 I have received with immense humility, your gracious award to me of the degree of Doctor of Letters in Literarure, Honoris Causa, of Moi University. It is deeply gratifying to know that my public service and commitment to transform Government's service delivery has not only attracted your attention and critical appreciation, but has also earned the approval at the highest level of your institution. Economic acceleration lies at the core of my vision of national transformation. To me, this award represents your intellectual community's endorsement of that vision and my administrations governance platform. I therefore do not take this honour for granted. I feel challenged to hasten the alignment of my Government to the platform, and to discipline it at every level to deliver accountability to Kenyans everywhere. As a public servant, I am proud to be admitted into your University's distinguished Convocation, and take great pleasure in my association with the Moi University community. As I receive your commendation for my accomplishments, I also salute Moi University's achievements and recognise its demonstrated commitment to realise its vision of enabling our society overcome its challenges. By separately pursuing our mandates, we remain partners in national transformation. Let us continue to complement each other's efforts in putting Kenya, and Kenyans first.
