Problem statement This proposal seeks to address the traditional leave application for Limkokwing University where an application

goes through several departments in order to gain authorization from the appropriate partys thereby increasing time spent and ultimately wasting precious operation time. After close examination a web based application will be implemented alongside the traditional method in order to hasten applications and encourage optimum utilization of operation time. The fundamental problems affecting this system as mentioned above is however not the only existing one, other setbacks include: o Due process: course of legal proceeding in line with an organizations bureaucracy which has been established for the enforcement of all the procedures involved in the administration of an organization. This makes the process a long one. o o Data duplication: this happens when an applicant mistakenly applied for more than one time over a stipulated period of time. Issue of lack of security: security and confidentiality is an issue of great importance in the working environment. Information directed to a particular person should go to that person and that person only, this is however not the case in the traditional method of application as anybody can come across this information and inflict damages or even misuse it. Project scope o o o o o o In the scope of this project the system will require an applicant to use his/her identity to login in to the system The system requires an applicant to fill application online The system does not require any other management activities apart from this online application for leave. The system will not be accessible for any invalid entry of data when logging in. System stakeholders involve staff (applicants) and administrator. This however does not include part time employees. Personal computers and LAN architecture specifications are included. Database server and database application are also included as below.

Operational feasibility The system is generally designed for staff in Limkokwing University, this includes Academic and non academic staff. The stakeholders are divided into two, the first stakeholder is the administrator who is responsible for approving or rejecting applications from the second category of users who happen to be the staff. A login page is available for these users to access their individual profiles in order to fill up the application form upon successful verification of login details.
