Independent Contractor Project Coordinator for Boyle Heights Cultural Treasures Project Request for Letter of Interest The

role of the contracted project coordinator is to facilitate the logistical implementation of the Boyle Heights Cultural Treasures Project which primarily consists of three 10-week artistic workshops leading to a large community wide culminating event. This work entails detailed event planning and implementation skills, promotion and public relations, people and collaboration skills and an appreciation of the role that arts and culture plays in building a healthy community. The Project Coordinator will work in coordination with ACTAs program manager, Quetzal Flores who will be responsible for the artistic and cultural planning elements (curatorial), and the BHC Cultural Treasures Task Force. This position will be contracted through East LA Community Corporation, the task force partner serving as the fiscal agent for this project. The contracted period begins October 1, 2013 and ends July 31, 2014. The pay rate is $30 per hour. The contract is for an average of 10 hours per week and is not to exceed a total of $12,300. Workshop logistics Registering participants and tracking ongoing participation in the workshops and in other BHC activities Securing the venues for the workshops Bringing snacks for the workshops (healthy, organic, minimally processed) Providing supplies for the workshops

Documentation and Evaluation Coordinate with multiple videographers who will document workshops and culminating event Coordinate, collect and prepare data for evaluation Culmination Event logistics Secure venues Get permits Facilitate outreach Manage volunteers Manage overall program Communications with local participating businesses Planning and Communication Facilitate communication between ELACC, ACTA and the BH Task Force on matters pertaining the logistical planning of the workshops and big event Work in coordination with Quetzal Flores ACTA PM, communicating weekly updates Attending Task force meetings

Budget Collect and submit necessary paperwork for artists payments (i.e. w9, contracts) Pay artists and other contractors Manage budget for workshops and culminating event

Letter of Interest Please speak to your experience in: working in Boyle Heights and working with Boyle Heights residents working on arts and culture projects where community residents where engaged in the project management and implementation of projects
