Glamping Trend ...........

Glamping is here.. Are you ready for it?
We really believe that the Ozshacks are the way forward and that Glamping (Glamorous Camping) will become as popular here in Australia as it is in Europe, the UK and North America. Safari Tents are increasing in popularity too; both require good amenities and camp kitchen facilities. Some sites will be better suited to the Safari Tents and others will be better suited to the Ozshacks. Both types of accommodation will attract 'Glampers' the new breed of campers in addition to the true campers, caravanners and families wanting cabins with en-suite facility. Ozshacks are not designed to replace your core revenue but to provide another option for short term accommodation. We would love to see 'Ozshack Trails' in the future; where campers plan their trip/ holiday using sites that offer Ozshacks. Glamping is so popular in the UK, it has its own designated internet site for bookings Pitchup. The Ozshacks look inviting and are different, increasing marketing abilities and providing alternative options thus attracting a wider audience, in return increasing potential revenue and tourism growth.

FACT: In 2011 in the UK alone there was over 150,000 stays in this type of Glamping accommodation alone, increasing each year with sites are spreading across Europe & North

Ozshacks Inspiration
Jon and I had backpacked around Australia in our twenties and really wanted to show our three boys the beauty and variety that each state has to offer. Planning our family holiday to the Australian East Coast, but at the same time taking in the theme parks, suitable accommodation, glamping was not available. On reviewing campsites, cabins were not affordable, and packing, storing & transporting camping equipment to each new destination was not viable or convenient. A traveling family with equipment was impractical. We could not locate ant budget accommodation that; met our expectations aesthetically; was conveniently located for amenities; allowed maximum time in each town to see all that it had to offer. We really wanted somewhere to sleep for one or two nights and then move on. UK friends mentioned Glamping. Research identied the growing trend, and the gap between the overseas and the Australian market for accommodation between tents and cabins in terms of facilities and budgets. The rst prototype was built as our own 'Backyard Shack' and after extensive research, trials of varying designs and feedback, produced the outcome of the current Australian registered design. The modications have given the ability to provide vast uses across a diverse range of customers. Through word of mouth we heard Big4 Port Willunga Tourist Park had been seeking contemporary, innovative accommodation to be a point of difference. We approached the owners to with our Ozshack idea. They had visions of the Ozshacks in a setting on their site. Three shacks ordered in April 2013 are now installed, with additional plans to expand with the potential of an Ozshacks shaped Camp Kitchen and further Shacks. Port Willunga anticipate the launch in the near future. Feedback from sites that I have spoken with has been terric. The majority of sites are impressed with the quality, value for money, the aesthetics, uniqueness and quirkiness....Some go as far as saying that they have the Wow factor! In response to feedback we are developing a few internal ideas, such as bench seating with a table that lowers to form a double bed with storage, a tea/coffee workstation and wardrobe, these will be slim units to keep oor space to the maximum. These will appear in our next newsletter and on the website. In the meantime we are more than happy to provide individual quotes if required. Feedback would suggest that we may need to develop an en-suite version further down the track, which we take on board. However we feel that we are trying to capture those extra people to your sites that wouldnt usually have camping as a vacation option, they like the idea of camping but either do not own a tent or want to be more sheltered from the elements whether that be heat, rain or cold.

How long do they take to make? The 'Original' size take approx 1 week and the 'Family & Family Plus' size approx 2 weeks, lead time obviously is dependant on work load. How are they transported? Typically 3x 'Originals' or 2x 'Family or Family Plus' can be transported on a truck and then simply craned into position. Rail is an option for larger interstate orders where they are transported in containers and then assembled on site (involves some nal stages of construction on site) Can we add power points/solar panels/TV supports etc? These can all be quoted for as options, additions need to be specied pre construction at the deposit stage, POA. The Shacks are available with Colorbond Roof and/or if you prefer the Cedar can be colour washed to t in with your existing colour scheme.You may have council restrictions or regulations regarding colours, we are more than willing to work with you to nd solutions to all your needs.

The Facts
