The Strategic Vision


The Strategic vision of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing concerning Bridge construction and maintenance in Jordan can be summarized as follows:
Achieving economic, feasible, durable and safe design and construction through the use of latest available international techniques in the design and construction Planning and applying a sustainable program of roads and bridges maintenance, repair and rehabilitation Applying an environmental friendly design and construction methodology Ensuring a successful and sustainable system of project management, construction monitoring, and quality enhancement Implementing a continuous and well elaborate program of training and technology transfer

The Strategic Vision


Master Planning: A planned system of Bridge rehabilitation and maintenance is the main objective where it depends on the Strategic need and priorities, the current condition and the social /economic and environmental impacts. Analytical assessment are carried out culminating in optimal strategies to be implemented under conditions of budget restraint Inventory and condition surveys are carried out, recorded and entered into national database systems. Socio-Economic and Environmental assessment are carried out with the objective of ensuring the proper and best usage of in-country capacity Bridges construction, rehabilitation and maintenance strategies are appraised and prioritised using Multi Criteria Analysis Prioritised activities are effectively applied and managed.

Environmental Impact: The overall objective of the Strategic Environmental Assessment is to demonstrate the effective integration and implementation of Bridge planning policies and programs under a given regulatory and administrative procedures. Construction Environment Management Guidelines are applied to ensure minimum adverse impacts and effective mitigation measures.

Bridge Special Features The objective of the bridge is to serve the local community of Baqaa and the surrounding areas, spanning over the existing roads and bypassing all the local circulating traffic. It reduces congestion, enhances safety reduces noise and minimizes accidents. Concrete barriers of 1.26 m height was provided to separate the bridge from the adjacent service roads to mitigate noise and enhance safety.
