Interasias Automatic Stacked Disc Microfiltrations (MSF) Interasias innovation allows microfiltration to take place under similar conditions and with filtration performance not previously attained by conventional filtration systems. INTERASIAs Automatic Cleaning Stack Microfiltration unit allow for high turndown ratio without any impact to the performance unlike conventional filtration, which requires a minimum flow to operate. This high flexibility makes operation of the MSF a highly cost effective solution. InterAsias MSF is able to operate under a wider temperatures range and harsh environments commonly encountered in most industries and are capable to separate solids from fluids at levels down to 5 microns. Accumulated solids are washed away from the MSF through an automated backwash system with the minimum of water compared to conventional system. After backwashing, The rejuvenated MSF is ready to begin the fluid filtration again at peak performance. How does INTERASIAs Automatic Stacked Disc Microfiltrations (MSF) work?


INTERASIAs Automatic Stacked Disc Microfiltrations (MSF) uses a process where solid particles larger than the filter element are removed using thermoplastic discs. The discs have special serrations on both sides resulting in a unique fine labyrinth, which filters out the solid particles in the fluid. Fluid filtration is carried out under pressure with the fluid flowing from the outer diameter of the filter element into the unique fine labyrinth, exiting at the inner diameter. The filtered fluid is carried up the stack of discs through holes in the upper holding plate. INTERASIAs MSF system will continue the filtration until a preset differential pressure between the inlet and outlet of the filter vessel, typically in the range of 10 20 psig. An Automated Backwash cycle is then activated at this preset differential pressure and the rejuvenation begins automatically. Backwash is also selectable for timer operation. The unique design of the MSF assembly provides an effective backwashing of the filter elements. The pressure of the backwash media forces the assembly to release and separate the filter elements. In this separated state, the contaminants are easily dislodged and forced out under pressure through the bottom drain of the vessel. In less than 5 minutes*, the filter elements are cleaned and restored to its full flow capacity.

INTERASIAs Automatic Stacked Disc Microfiltration Filtration Cycle


Filter vessel is built to ASME standards, and all internal parts are removable for cleaning and overhaul. There are no internal moving parts. Lifting lugs are standard on all vessels. O-rings are used for cover plate sealing to eliminate critical torque procedure for tight sealing. Backwash drains are located at the bottom to ensure full drainage at the lowest point of the vessel. Vent are provided to allow the vessel to be filled prior to bring it to filtering operation.

Forward filtration cycle Fluid filtration is carried out under pressure of typically 40 500 psig with solids building up on the outer diameter of the filter discs. The filtered effluent flows through the labyrinth and exits through the center of the discs candle.

Backwash cycle When backwash initiates, the filter discs separate and the accumulated solids are dislodged and forced out of the filter discs. The solids exit at the bottom of the vessel. The filter is fully rejuvenated in a backwash cycle of minutes duration.

INTERASIAs MSF Filter Element


MSF elements are rated nominally that indicates the filters degree of filtration at the first instant of flow unlike conventional filtration system. The rating is based on size of the smallest assumed spherical particle that could pass through the fine filter labyrinth. This rating eliminates the trial and error in filter operation especially during the first instant of flow. Established quality control check points in the manufacturing process assure repeatable and consistent filtration rating, flow performance and dimensional accuracy.

Disc element The thermoplastic round discs are designed with unique micro-paths on the surface to provide absolute fluid flow path when stacked together. This ensures that the fluid flows only through the fine labyrinth assuring of absolute filtration efficiency.

Discs candle assembly The discs are stacked together to form a candle. This candle is a permanent with no disposal requirements.

Cell-pack Multiple candles are assembled together to form a cell-pack which provide for the required fluid filtration flow rates. The cell-pack is easily lifted out of the filter vessel for cleaning and overhaul.
