Happy Fishing Lab-Tragedy of the Commons Discussion Questions 1. Did anyone in your group take too many fish? How did that make you feel? Did everyone try to take as many as possible? Why or Why not? Does society reward those with the "most"? Someone in my group took too many and I was kind of upset. Everyone tried to take as many as possible because that want to be the person who has the most profit. The society does reward those with the most.

2. Did anyone sacrifice the # of fish, for the good of the community? Why or Why not? Does society ever reward that type of person? I did sacrificed the number of fish for the good of the community because I thought that will help other people have fish in the next time, but I was wrong, the fish were all gone. Maybe the society rewards that type of person but I dont think so.

3. In Game two... how did your strategy change, if at all? Does it make a difference to know what the rewards are? In game two, my group never made it because we have no more fish in the pond. It does make a difference to know what the rewards are, because sometimes if you don't know the reward, or you dont like it, you can give that to the others. If the rewards are great, and you know it, you want it, you'll do whatever you can to win, and thats selfish.

4. Is it possible to maximize the number of fish caught/person AND the number of fish remaining in the pond at the same time? Why or Why Not? It is not possible to maximize the number of fish caught/person and the number of fish remaining in the pond at the same time because someone in the group will not have enough profit or go to bankrupt.

5. What are some natural resources that are common resources? Some natural resources are fish gone to extinct causing ocean problem.

6. What are the global commons? Are these being used wisely? Why or Why Not? Global commons are areas critical to life and habitation, identified as such where no person or country is allowed to "own" or otherwise control. It isn't being used wisely, because there are people who overuse the resource and make the extinction.

7. What can people do to use these resources more wisely? If people try to reproduce the fish then it will never extinct. But if they overused it then there is no more fish in the pond.

8. Did a particular "type" of fish disappear faster than others? How does this relate to "economically valuable" species in nature and their extinction rates? The most expensive fish known as yellow fish disappear faster than others. This relates to "economically valuable" species, because the species that are more worth then are more caught, which leads to a higher extinction rate.

Postlab: In the "Happy Fishing Lab", the main idea was about the tragedy and how you working on a team. Especially one thing was that if you catch all of the fish then you will have no more fish for the next time. Through the game, I learned that people whose goes to fishing or a farmer whose growth fish, they should keep some fish in their pond to reproduce it, because if we overused it, the fish will go to extinct. The relationship between human society and the environment were that human society is overusing the environments resources and seem like nothing happened, you cant get the natural back.
