CHAPTER 1

Repeated Item Tracking

Repeated Item Tracking is a program used mainly for trouble-shooting purposes. It is designed to filter repetitive appearance of workorders with the same ATA-Chapter and AC-Registration in a given time period. With this result, so-called Repeated Items can be built (each Repeated Item is a bundle of workorders dealing with the same or a similar problem) and managed. The program will help to define and solve the source for recurring problems that might go unnoticed otherwise, and thus will reduce labor time needed to repair the repeated failures.

Preconditions:
Before you start working with Repeated Item Tracking, make sure that the following parameters are set according to your wishes. Parameter 1278: This parameter defines the default number of days in which the system will search for repeated ATA-Chapter and ACRegistration appearances. In the field Amount [Integer] enter the number of days you wish to consider. The maximum is limited to 60 days. Parameter 1279: In this parameter, define the number of workorders in the selected time period to trigger an output in Repeated Items Tracking. In the field Amount [Integer] enter the number of workorders that will be the minimum number of workorders per ATA-Chapter and ACRegistration (e.g. if this parameter is set to 3, wororders will be shown in the program if there are 3 or more workorders with the same ATAChapter and AC-Registration in the selected time period). Parameter 1280: Enter here the number of days after which a Repeated Item will disappear from Repeated Item Tracking if no new workorders are issued for this ATA-Chapter and AC-Registration combination. In the field Amount [Integer] enter the number of days after which a Repeated Item should be closed.

Getting Started
When opening the program, press the button pop-up screen. in order to get a

On the screen opening up, you will see the current settings of the parameters 1278, 1279 and 1280. These settings will be used for all ATA-Chapters, unless a further definition is made in the ATA tab-sheet.

ATA tab-sheet
In this tab-sheet, the specifications made in the above mentioned parameters can be overruled for single ATA-Chapters. In the table, enter the ATA-Chapter you want to specify for, the Date Range (analog the lines of parameter 1278), the WO Amount (analog the lines of parameter 1279) and the Closing Date Range (analog the lines of parameter 1280). Then decide, if this special rule should be enabled (by ticking the checkbox) or not.

Workorder tab-sheet
In this tab-sheet, you can completely exclude single workorders or workorder ranges from being displayed in Repeated Item Tracking. In the table, enter the lowest workorder number of the range to be excluded (Exclude WO From) and the highest workorder number to be excluded (Exclude WO To). Then decide, if the entered range should be excluded in the considered and displayed workorders (checkbox ticked) or not.

Filters in Repeated Item Tracking

When first opening the program, you will see a screen similar to the following picture:

Chapter 1 Repeated Item Tracking

Note: The program will only display aircraft/fleets if there are workorders matching the filter settings available.

AC- and ATA-selection on the left hand side of the screen

On the left-hand side of the screen select the aircraft (one or several) and the ATA-Chapter (one or several). The workorders matching these filter criteria will be displayed.

Filters on the top of the screen

The top section of the screen offers the possibility to reduce the displayed workorders according to filter settings:
This filter... ...has this function

Pirep only

If this filter is activated, only workorders marked as Pirep will be displayed. (Pirep workorders have a -symbol in the main display (Flagsfield).

Cabin only Maint. only

With this filter, only cabin items will b displayed. With this filter, select only those workorders that are marked as Maintenance workorders. These workorders have a -symbol in the Flags-field of the main display. Shows only workorders that were marked as Minimum Equipment List workorders. A single or several MEL categories can be selected by clicking the respective letter-box. If no category is selected, all MEL-workorders will be displayed. MEL workorders have the marking MEL in the Flags-field of the main diaplay. This filter shows all workorders that have the marking Hold Item List. These workorders are marked in the Flagsfield of the main display with the letters HIL.

Canni Only

By activating this filter, only workorders that were marked as cannibalization workorders (robbery) will be displayed. If this checkbox is ticked, AMOS will check all ATA-chapters for correctness. Should there be any ATA chapters in the system that are not conform to the ATA chapters defined by the system administrator, they will be displayed. (Example: ATA Chapter 05 instead of 05-00 as defined in the ATA-chapter table). This dropdown table shows all the different sections of the screen. Decide from what section the selected WO shall be displayed on the right hand side of the screen. (only if activated with the WO-button next to the dropdown table.)

The Different Display Sections

Repeated Item Tracking offers three basic display areas: The Main Display (on page 7), Repeated Items (on page 8) and Discarded Items (on page 9). For further information about each section, please refer to the corresponding chapter.

The Main Display

In the main display section of the screen, AMOS will display all workorders that have a repeated occurance (according to the filter settings as described in Getting Started (on page 3)) and matching the current filter settings.

Repeated Items
In the Repeated Items tab-sheet, the user can create so called Repeated Items, i.e. packs of workorders to be monitored and followed up together. All existing Repeated Items are automatically displayed. Repeated Items hold all workorders assigned to them, no matter what the status of the workorder is. At any point of time, workorders can be added or removed from a Repeated Item. The only precondition for a workorder to be part of a Repeated Item is to have the same AC Registration and ATA Chapter as the workorders already in the Repeated Item.

How To Create a New Repeated Item

1 2 3 4 Press A pop-up screen will open up. Fill in a description for the Repeated Item. In the text-field, enter a reason for the Repeated Item Press .

Note: Workorders that were highlighted when creating the new Repeated Item will automatically be included in this Repeated Item. AMOS will automatically use the A/C-registration and ATA-chapter of the selected aircraft as a basis for the Repeated Item.

For each Repeated Item or individual workorder, links or remarks can be added. If the checkbox Link to AC and ATA is ticked, only Repeated Items for the currently selected fleet/aircraft combination are displayed. If a Repeated Item is highlighted, the workorders contained in this item are displayed on the right hand bottom side of the screen, with Workordernumber, A/C, ATA-chapter, Date and Status. Workorders can be assigned from the main display into a Repeated Item by clicking at the bottom of the screen after highlighting the workorder(s) in question. AMOS will not allow you to assign any workorder that is issued for a different AC Registration or ATA Chapter. By clicking , the workorder will be removed from the Repeated Item again and listed in the main display.

Chapter 1 Repeated Item Tracking

Discarded Items
Repeated Item Tracking offers the possibility to discard individual workorders either for the current day or for good (e.g. when they are not part of the problem monitored and shall not appear again in the main display). By selecting either the tab-sheet Discarded Items for (current date) or Discarded Items and then clicking on , the selected workorder(s) will be added to the discarded items after entering a reason in the pop-up window. By highlighting workorders and pressing , the workorders are put back in the main display.

History Tab
The History tab displays all workorders which were moved away from the Main display, e.g. to Repeated Items, to Discarded Items of the day, to Discarded Items. By default the time period is set to 1 week, which can be changed via the drop-down menu. Furthermore you can choose, if you want to see the complete history or only from the selected aircraft and ATA-chapter. Everytime you discard a workorder a reason/text can be entered, which is visible in the History tab as well. Furthermore the report generator offers the report Repeated Items History which also shows the full (restricted to 255 characters) text.

Put "XC" into the parameters String value to exclude checkfindings in the repeated item calculations. In the Repeated Item Tracking application it is now possible to exclude check findings per ATA chapter. Open the "Setup" screen. There you can override the global settings per ATA chapter with the appropriate checkboxes
