Using an A list celebrity like Jean Reno attracts more of an international audience as he is a French actor so you can gain

his fen creating an international audience. This agrees with Gledhills star theory that a star attracts a wider audience.

The tagline for this movie indicates that the main character is on a mission/ job of high importance hence why they need a professional. Taglines are always short and snappy because the reader doesnt want the whole story just a quick summary of what to expect. It also promotes this theme of action based on the short but sharp way its put. This is also the unique selling point of the film because the film itself is like an ad for his line of work. The tagline is also an enigma code, as it allows the audience to want to watch the film to decode what the tagline means, considering we dont know what job needs doing and whether or not his character is the professional.

The denotation of the word Professional means to the highest ability of the thing they are good at. They use this word in this sentence to show the character has amazing skills and is the best, if someone is a professional its also impressive and people want to see it.

This is a teaser poster since there is no date of release and no certificate age limit.

This poster is more male based as the character is a man and nothing of the picture looks feminine.

The main colours used in this portrait shot are red and black and this symbolises danger and violence which represents the characters life. The key image is of the main character linking it to the title of the film showing the audience who the film is based on. The characters facial expression shows seriousness but a hint of sadness suggesting this could be a tragedy. From gathering that this looks like a hard hitting action film with violence I would guess the target audience to be anyone over the age of 15 as anyone younger may not cope with the narrative and violence shown. The film poster goes with stereotypes as the character shown looks mysterious but also scary as the red highlights but the black shadows his eyes. The background image is faded but from the reflection on his glasses using the mese en scene you can see he is in a city.

The costume makes the character Leon look scruffy and poorer than normal people so it suggests he needs his job for money reasons, getting the audience more involved in his life. Bernard Genet was the same producer who gave us films like Unleashed (2005) directed by Louis Leterrier and Kiss from a Dragon (2001) directed by Chris Nahon. The font used is simplistic so everyone is able to read it clearly and there is good spacing as well. There is no website address since this film was made in 1994 so this wouldnt have been common.

The rule of thirds is unusual in this one as his eyes are looking away from the audience so it leaves them with the enigma code of where he is looking. As he is central he is more eye catching. All the information seems to be placed at the bottom.

The audience may question why he is staring at a city or what city might this be. Also why does he look so serious? This is used to create an enigma code.

The credit block is just showing who helped make the film like the cast and crew along with legal lines of the film like copyright names. Its so that people who enjoy films made by a certain person can look out for them easier. We also know from this that it was made by a top film company Buena Vista International so we expect it to be a good film. The organisation that produced the film was Gaumont/Les Films Du Dauphin production.
