To carry out the hot line maintenance work it is necessary to keep the safe distances as under: Voltage level

in kV 11 33 66 132 220 Clearance in feet. 2.0 2.5 3.0 3.5 5.0

Thus the following conductors are standardized. 1. 66 kV - ACSR Dog conductor. 2. 132 kV - ACSR Panther conductor. 3. 220 kV - ACSR Zebra conductor. 4. 400 kV - ACSR Twin Bundle Moose conductor. TABLE-1 Curre nt carryi ng capac ity at 75oC (Amp)

ELECTRICAL CLEARANCES: The requirement of clearance for different voltages of Transmission are indicated in Table-4. It may be noted that on a transmission line tower the clearance between the line conductor and the tower body are under zero swing, normal swing and abnormal swing conditions. The later two are having relevance with the flash over consideration. TABLE-4 Minimu m Ground Clearan ce (mts) 6.0 6.4 7.0 8.85 Tower Body Clearance with Insulator Swing / Jumper Swing(mts.)
