There, the Tigers won convincingly, 15-8 to claim the match and the 4-0 night. Seven seniors off that squad were in the lineup last Saturday. Center Point-Urbana was 24-10 last season and had five seniors back and DeWitt returned seven seniors from last year. North Cedar played Clinton tough in the first match of the day, falling 21-16 and 21-14. North Cedar took DeWitt to three games, but lost a tough third game 19 to 17. Against CPU, North Cedar fell 21-19 and 21-16. The second match-up with Clinton also was a loss for the Knights, this time by a score of 21-13 and 21-5. Allison Jensen had a team high 19 kills in the four matches. She also had 8 digs. Allison Jewell had 8 kills. Kate Pruess had a team high 19 digs. Natalie Dewell had 35 assists and Taylor Kress had 9 digs. The Knights are off until this Thursday, when they will host Monticello in their River Valley Conference opener. The Panthers will be playing their first match of the season that night and have four seniors and two juniors on their 13-person roster. After that match, Monticellos schedule picks up with four matches Saturday at the Midland Tournament.

Tyler Hetzler tossed a 16-yard touchdown pass to Todd Carter giving Wilton a 27-0 lead at halftime. Tipton had two possessions in the third quarter, both ended early. In the Tigers first possession after halftime, Wiltons Tyler Hetzler picked off an Alex Wiley pass and returned it 38 yards for a touchdown, putting Wilton ahead 33-0. The Tigers went three and out on the ensuing possession and didnt get the ball back until the fourth quarter, trailing 33-0. Wilton subbed in their reserves, some of whom were junior varsity players, to start the final quarter and Tipton took advantage of it. It started with Blake Huston intercepting Javin Drake. Tipton started the drive at their own 13 and 11 plays later watched Chandler Harden rumble 62 yards for Tiptons first touchdown. After an Askil Haagensen PAT the score stood at 33-7 with 6:35 left in the game. Tipton kept the momentum, forcing the Beavers into a three and out. After a Wilton punt, Tipton took over at their own 35. On the first play of the drive, Harden again found a seam and ran 65 yards for the Tigers second touchdown. Harden ran in the two-point try, putting the score at 33-15. Wilton, having seen enough of the Tigers scoring, put together a scoring drive of their own, a 6-play, 50yard drive that ended on a 31-yard touchdown run by Logan Mays to put the score at 39-15. Tipton had 330 yards of total offense with 293 yards rushing and 37 yards passing. Tipton senior running back Chandler Harden rushed for 249 yards and two touchdowns, both coming in the fourth quarter. Taylor Axberg rushed for 57 yards on 11 carries. Wilton will play their home opener, hosting 10th ranked (class 2A) Louisa-Muscatine. The Falcons were 46-14 winners at Durant last Friday. The game will feature two state ranked teams. Wilton is ranked 8th in class 1A while Louisa-Muscatine enters the game ranked 10th in class 2A by the Iowa Associated Press Writers.

Wilton travels to the Wapello Tournament Tuesday night, September 3 and travels to Iowa City Regina on Thursday, September 5 in their River Valley Conference opener. Kelsi Sieren had a team high 8 kills to go with 13 digs and a perfect 20-for-20 serving night for Keota. Madison Sheetz had 7 kills, a team high 18 digs. Abby Schulte had 15 assists. Sieren, a senior, is back after leading the team in kills and blocks last season. Sheetz is one of four juniors back and was second on the team in kills and blocks last season. Sophomore Abby Schulte entered the game as the teams new setter and had 62 assists which was in the top-5 in class 1A as of Sunday, September 1.

Changes To Jr. High Games This Year


TIPTON Parents and fans alike will want to take note of a change in junior high football games. The new conference that Tipton is in, The River Valley Conference, will charge an admission for Jr. High Football games this fall. This is a change as there was no admission charge for Jr. High Cedar Valley Conference games. Ticket prices will be $3 for adults and $1 for students. Activity passes will be honored for home football games. Home jr. high volleyball matches also will have the same admission until 5 p.m., then varsity admissions o $5 for adults and $4 for students will be taken. WILTON The Wilton Beaver volleyball team were comeback kids last Thursday in their 2013 opener at home. There, the Beavers came back from being down two games to one to take a close match three games to two over South Iowa Cedar League foe Keota. Keota entered the match with a 2-1 record and three matches already played. The Eagles had wins over Lone Tree in their opener ,and over SICL foe Belle Plaine. Their loss was to Highland with all three matches coming in a home round-robin tournament earlier last week. Belle Plaine was ranked #8 in class 1A at the time of their win over the Plainsmen. Keota finished 4-6 in SICL last season and 11-12 overall. Wilton won game one 25-15, lost game two 25-17
