Introducing notions
Synonym = a word with the same or a similar meaning as another word in the same language. Example: large = big, happiness = joy, combine = unite Antonym = a word having the opposite meaning of another word. Example: big small, someone no one, trust distrust, to accept to reject Homonym = a word with the same spelling and pronunciation but with a different meaning from another word. Example: where (designates a place) vs. wear (to put on accessories, clothes and other items) hill (a unit of relief) vs. heal (to cure an illness) vs. heel (the back part of the foot) whole (the entire part of an object) vs. hole (an opening in or through something, a gap) horse (an animal) vs. hoarse (rough, harsh, usually referred to someone's voice)
Activities 1. Give synonyms for the following words from the text:

4. Decide which word in each of these groups is significantly different from the others.
