BGMEA Institute of Fashion and Technology (BIFT), Dhaka Bangladesh has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Academic Cooperation with National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), New Delhi, India on 6th September, 2011 at Prime Ministers Office Dhaka Bangladesh. The agreement was signed between Ms. Monika Garg, Director General, NIFT and Mr. Muzaffar U. Siddique President, Governing Body - BIFT on behalf of their respective institutions. President, BGMEA and members of the Governing Body, BIFT were present on the occasion.

Batexpo 2011
The three day event Batexpo-2011 began in Dhaka on 10th December, 2011 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the event. There was a huge participation in the Batexpo-2011, although the world is passing through an economic slump. The creative designs of this Batexpo collection were endeavor of the BIFT students which was shown in Batexpo fashion show. Afsana Ferdousi Wormey, FDT Department (081 batch) of BGMEA Institute of Fashion & Technology (BIFT) has been awarded with the 1st Runner up in the GRAND FINALE of the SDC (society of dyers and colourists) Intl Design Competition 2011 held in Hong Kong on 02 nd December 2011. 11 countries participated in this competition.

Mr. Muzaffar U Siddique, President, BIFT; BIFT officials & NIFT delegates visited BIFT Campus
The visit was part of a continuing cooperation between the two institutions on academic issues for higher professional education. Visitors discussed on how to develop academic and professional excellence and exchange of faculties, students and research staff, curriculum and product design development, joint exhibition and other activities between the two institutions.
Former Presidents of BGMEA Mr. Mostofa Golam Quddus, Mr. Kazi Moniruzzaman were the chief guest and Special guests respectively. The program was chaired by Mr. Mozaffar U. Siddique, President of the Governing Body, BIFT. The chief guest and special guest appreciated to see the unique development of BIFT and assured all out cooperations to build BIFT a centre of Excellence. The program included distribution of prizes among the students in different events and cultural program. The vote of thanks was given by Col.Md. Mosharof Hossain (Retd), Principal, BIFT.
Orientation Program of MBA in Apparel Merchandising and B.Sc (Hons) 112 Batch at BIFT
The Orientation Program of the students of 112 Batch of MBA in Apparel Merchandising and B.Sc (Hons) 112 batches (July - December 2011 semester) in Apparel Manufacture & Technology (AMT), Fashion Design & Technology (FDT) & Knitwear Manufacture & Technology (KMT) BIFT were held on 24 July and 10 September 2011 respecting at BIFT. Col. Md. Mosharrof Hossain (Retd), Principal, BIFT was present as the Chief Guest. Registrar, faculties, admin officials of BIFT and new students were present on the occasions.

Mr. Douglas McLure, Independent EU Monitoring Programme Asia and central Asia, Ms. Monira Rahman, representative from UNIDO and Mr. Lutfur Kabir, Senior Advisor, giz visited BIFT main campus, Uttara, Dhaka on 25th October, 2011. The visit was part of monitoring for proper utilization of the EU funded project in BIFT. Mr. Muzaffar U Siddique, President and Mr. Reaz-BinMahamood, Vice-President of BIFT briefed them about the overall activities of BIFT.

Md. Afsid Yamin of KMT Department (082 batch) of BGMEA Institute of Fashion & Technology (BIFT) has been awarded with the Championship Trophy in the GRAND FINALE of the SHELTECH CAMPUS HERO competition held recently in the Open Gallery of North South University. The competition was organized by CHANNEL-i in which 7000 students of different universities (Public and Private) have participated at various stages of the competition to present their feat in better work for the society. Mr. Nurul Islam Nahid, Honble Minister for Education was present as the Chief Guest at the Grand Finale. Prof. Abdullah Abu Sayed, Columnist Selina Hossain, Prof. Jamilur Reza Chowdhury and Dr. Prangopal Datta were present as Special Guests. Columnist & Prof. Sirajul Islam, Sayed Monjurul Islam of Dhaka University and Former Ambassador Mr. Humayun Kabir were judges for the competition.

Organ Needle Company Ltd., Japan a renowned manufacturer of Organ brand industrial sewing machine needles whose exclusive agent in Bangladesh is General Business Co. organized a workshop on Sewing Technology for final year AMT, KMT and FDT students held on 16th November, 2011 at BIFT auditorium. From this workshop the students of BIFT could learn about the various types of sewing problems and counter measures for them and how to use the perfect needle for various fabrics, design, so that they could utilize their knowledge in the professional field.
