ISLAMIC FINANCING

OVERVIEW
Islamic financing is based on the principles of Islamic Law which is Shariah Law. Todays economic conditions suggest that Islamic financing has become very much more popular option of financing not only to Muslims in this nation bust also to a majority of non-Muslims. Malaysia today has the largest Islamic banking and financial market of which US$30.9 billion is Islamic banking assets, US$1.7 billion is made up of Takaful assets and Islamic private debt securities (IPDS) market is worth US$ 34 billion. Islamic financing has grown a great deal in terms of international finance, whether at a government-to-government (G2G) or business-to-consumer (B2C) level. Its significance has grown over the last couple of years and is now available in more than 60 countries worldwide.

COURSE CONTENTS
Islamic financing principles Introduction to Takaful, Fiqh, Muamalat and Riba Introduction to Muqasah and Wakalah Islamic sales contracts, hire purchase (Ijarah) and savings contracts Gratuity and agency contracts and Shariah requirements Mudharabah, Musyarakah and Sukuk Supporting contracts - Rahnu; Kafalah,Qard Hasan; Hiwalah and Hibah Cases, exercises TRAINERS PROFILE Dr. Saravanan Muthaiyah received his Ph.D. in Information Technology from the Volgenau School of Information Technology and Engineering, Department of Computer Science, George Mason University, USA. His corporate experience includes working with IBM World Trade Corporation, Intel (Research Fellow) and Arthur Anderson. He has consulted with numerous companies including several based in the USA (GMU Business Alliance and INTEL), Maybank, UMCCED, MAKPEM, Pacific Tech and TM among others. Dr. Murali Raman received his PhD in Management Information Systems from the School of IS & IT, Claremont Graduate University, USA. He has consulted with numerous companies including several based in the USA (Claremont University Consortium), Ghana (GIMPA), Singapore (AsiaOne, Keppe bank), Australia (Monash Supply Chain and Logistics Center), and Malaysia (Panasonic, OUM, RHB Bank, Intan, MAKPEM, Malaysian Association of Social Workers, CDC Consulting among others) Mr.Samuel Jebaraj Benjamin is an accounting and finance instructor at the Faculty of Management, Multimedia University, Cyberjaya, Malaysia. He holds a Diploma in Accounting, a bachelors degree in Applied Accounting (Hons) from the Oxford Brookes University, an MBA from University of East London and is a fellow member of ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK).

Provide participants with an overview of what Islamic financial decisions are in their day to day operations Allows participants to evaluate, analyze and implement Islamic financial decisions in sales and purchase contracts Appreciation of latest methods that fall within the scope of modern day Islamic financial investment analysis
