theNCR7606).Preparethesiteproperlybeforeinstallingtheterminalbecausesite
preparationdeficienciesmaybedifficulttodetectandcorrectafterinstallation.
TheNCR7606consistsofseparatepiecesthatmaybecombinedinavarietyof
configurations.Certaincombinationsaremutuallyexclusive.Youmustdeterminethe
equipmentthatwillactuallybeinstalledbeforeproceedingwiththesitepreparation.

Ingeneral,keeptheNCRequipmentareafreefromdust,smoke,lint,andother
particles.Restrictsmoking,eating,anddrinkingaroundtheequipment.Avoid
locatingtheequipmentnearothermachinesthatgenerateink,carbon,andpaperdust
particles.

Third Party Peripheral Certification

ThirdpartyperipheralsmustbecertifiedwiththePOSterminalorapotentialESD
issuecanoccur.Thirdpartyperipheralsincludeanyelectricallypowereddevices
connectedtothePOSterminalthatisnotanNCRbrandedproductoracertified
solutionadvocatedbyNCR.Examplesofthirdpartyproductsincludeprinters,
externalCDROMdrives,cashdrawers,cigaretteboxes,pinpaddevices,etc.
Peripheralstendtobelesssensitivetoelectrostaticdamagewhendirectlygrounded
throughtheirpowercords.Iftheperipheralispoweredbytheterminalandhasno
dedicatedground,thenalloftheESDenergyiscoupledintotheportconnection.
Somedevicesmayrequiretheuseofaninlinegalvanicisolator/surgeprotectorin
ordertopreventproblems.
TheNCRTPP/SCERprocessisdesignedtoevaluatethirdpartyperipheralsand
determinewhetheradditionalprotectivedevicesareneeded.

TheNCR7606TerminalsupportsEthernet10/100/1000baseTLocalAreaNetwork

AC Power Line Transient Protection

Intheprocessofpowerdistribution,transientelectricalenergy(including,butnot
limitedto,lightningstrikes,intermittentshortcircuits,andswitchingtransients)can
beintroducedontopowerlines.Suchtransientenergycanbeverydamagingto
electronichardware,andcanalsocausedatacorruption.Underthesecircumstances,
NCRrecommendstheuseofACpowertransientsuppressors.Suchprotection
devicesareintendedtoguardagainstpowerlinetransientsthatcanresultin
hardwaredamageandvarioussystemorprogramerrors.
Improvementofanydeficienciesinpowerqualityisacustomerresponsibility.
Malfunctionand/orcomponentfailureasaresultofpowerqualityproblemsare/is
notcoveredbytheNCRMaintenanceAgreement.NCRacceptsnoliabilityforany
suchoccurrencenorforitsconsequences.
Whenpowertransientsuppressionisrequired,thesuppressorsusedshouldmeetthe
