TheOracleXEdatabasethatwillbeinstalledwithPrimaveraP6Professionalrequiresjavatobeinstalled onthesystem.TheJavaRuntimeEnvironment(JRE)orJavaDeveloperKit(JDK)canbeinstalled.Either willwork. ItisveryimportanttomakesureasupportedJavaversionisinstalled.ForPrimaveraP6Professional R8.3thesupportedJava7Update15versionshouldbeinstalled.Other(newer)versionsmaynotbe compatibleandmaygiveyouproblemswiththedatabaseportionoftheinstallationordatabase operationsafterinstallation.JavainstallationfilesareprovidedinthePrimaveraP6R8.3zipfileinthe followingpath: C:\Users\username\Downloads\V3749901\P6_R83_Client_Applications\Java ToinstallJava,rightclickonthejavamediafileandchooseOpen.Inthefollowingexamplethejre 7u15windowsx64.exeisbeingrun.

1. UsingyourWindowsfileexplorer,locatetheSetup.exefileintheP6_R83_Client_Applications folderandrightclickonit. 2. SelecttheOpenoptionfromthemenu.Youcanalsodoubleclicktostarttheinstaller.

3. DependingonyourUAC(UserAccountControl)setting,youmaybepromptedtoallowthe programtomakechangestoyoursystem.ClickYestoallow. Note:UACsettingscanbechangedintheControlPanel|SystemandSecurity|ActionCenter belowtheSecurityheading.

Theinstallermayalsopromptyoutoinstallcertainprerequisiteprogramsonyourmachine. TheseincludetheDHTMLEditingComponentandMicrosoft.NETFramework4(x86andx64). Ifprompted,allowtheinstallertoproceedwiththeseinstallations.
