Executive Director Fort McKay Mtis Community The Fort McKay Mtis Community (FMMC) is looking for a qualified Executive Director who is seeking a challenging position in a dynamic community in the heart of the Alberta Oil Sands. The Executive Director will be charged with directing this new organization from the ground up, developing and implementing the FMMCs Strategic Plan. Role Summary Reporting to the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will be responsible for the successful leadership and management of FMMC according to the strategic direction as set by the Board of Directors. The Executive Directors major mandate will be to help develop and implement the organizations long-range strategy which will achieve its mission, and makes consistent and timely progress on its goals. Other key responsibilities include program development and making the optimal use of organizational finances, staff and resources. The Executive Director will also provide financial leadership by managing budgets and monitoring long-term strategic fiscal plans. General Responsibilities

Education and Experience Five (5) or more years of progressive management experience in a non-profit, Aboriginal organization, or management experience in a governing body. University degree in Native Studies, business administration, the humanities or social sciences or other related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. A drivers licence Qualifications and Competencies

Knowledge of leadership and management principles as they relate to Aboriginal organizations Knowledge of Mtis and Aboriginal rights as they apply to the Athabasca Oil Sands Knowledge of Mtis culture, values and beliefs Knowledge of current issues faced by the community of Fort McKay Knowledge of financial management

Knowledge of project management A willingness to live in Fort McMurray and commute to Fort McKay on a daily basis. Travel to other destinations, including Edmonton and Calgary may be required from time to time MS Office Suite environment, especially with MS Outlook, Word, and Excel Experience developing and implementing policies and procedures in an Aboriginal organization The ability to speak Cree and/or Dene is an asset; willingness to learn is a must. Must have a sense of humour!

Compensation Salary will be competitive and based on experience and qualifications.
