Analysis Report on Use of Handphones

In 1973, the first handheld mobile phone or handphone was demonstrated by John F. Mitchell and Dr. Martin Cooper from Motorola Company. They use a handphone weighing around 1 kg. The first mobile phone or handphone to be commercially available was DynaTAC8000X in 1983. All of these were created in The United States of America.

Time passed by. With the advancement of technology, handphone or mobile phone is not a luxury thing to have but it is a necessity from everybody in this millennia especially when we are running a business.

More than 14 million handphone or mobile phone subscribers in our country, Malaysia and handphone have been the largest personal means of communication and interaction in Malaysia. Handphone or mobile phone has gone beyond than just making calls. Handphone also serve a variety of purposes and functions in many fields especially business.

iPhones, which created in The US, changes the way people use handphone or mobile phone with its eco system of apps and interface where the devices multi-touch screen including a virtual keyboard is built around. On the other hand, The Androids operating system runs hundreds of millions of mobile devices today. Gartner, a research firm said more than 156 million Android smartphon were sold in the first three months of this year or 74.4 per cent of the global total. Most of the handphones nowadays as light as 200 grams.

There are many beneficial aspects in the usage of handphone to run a business. Handphone is utilize to allow business persons to remain and constantly in contact or in touch with each other at any time and any place whether in office, at site, an even at home. Handphone

connects business personnels from any level to achieve the same goal and target so that everybody will always reachable, organized , focused and not to forget up-to-date and catch up on business operations.

There are many functions or applications in handphone especially in Smartphone , iphone and Android phone. For example, there are We Chat, Twitter, Whats App, Viber, Tango, Facebook , Box, Mediafire, KakaoTalk ,Line ,and Yahoo! Messenger . In handphone, we also have a simple application which is messenger or also known as short message service or SMS and event calculator.

More than 300 million people universally or worldwide are having Facebook, Twitter, and Yahoo! Messsenger account. It is an essential tool for everyone especially young generations. It is a lifestyle of the society. The rapid development of the technology especially Smart phones helps to spread information quickly.

Using handphone is considered as a new dimension in direct marketing and customer relationship. Mobile messaging can broadcast quick and crucial marketing and promotional information to customers mobile phone without the hassle of postage and form filling.

Business shows that people with large collegiate network are more successful at work and in their community than people who do not put effort into networking. That is why; handphone or mobile phone is very crucial or essential in business.

Handphone or mobile phone is beneficial to business especially if we want to do telemarketing. Nowadays, many companies do telemarketing to promote their products and also for customer service function. Other than that, we also can contact our customers or clients easily

from everywhere to anywhere. Many companies use this kind or communication to boost and boom their business such as, Citibank, Bank Rakyat, CIMB Bank,Al-Rajni Bank, Astro, Celcom and many hotel companies to promote their products and services.

Handphone is crucial for those who work from home. Teleworkers carry on their job at home and it is more flexible working time and the end of commuting. At the same time, teleworkers can do their house chores as well. Time and money are saved.

In business, workers also use handphone to make video call for meeting and discussion purposes. Two people from distance can communicate easily and can get the solution instantly. They can use We Chat and Line application for this. Another application that can be used is KakaoTalk and Whats App which allow you to talk with more than two persons at the same time. In other word, we can get faster and better result when we use handphone as one of our communication tools in business.

Other application in handphone that can help people who involve in business is GPS. A businessman or businesswoman can use GPS to find the meeting location and they can manage their time to search for a foreign location to attend any meeting, occasion and appointment. No hassle and free traffic congestion when they use this application. They also can be before time and no more cancellation and delay appointment.

Many people have their Facebook account, so this is the best opportunity for businessmen or entrepreneurs to promote and advertise their products and services. Other than that, business person can use Youtube application to advertise their products by uploading their advertisements. They also can get quick feedback from the customers after they watch the advertisement. People can browse the advertisements using their handphone anywhere and everywhere. They also can promote and establish on-line selling and marketing.

Handphone or mobile phone also can be used as quick calculator to count and get percentage is short time. Moreover, we can use weather forecast to know the weather of the place that we want to know so that we can prepare and plan our work or business efficiently.

Other than that, handphone or mobile phone can detect the world time in order for business persons to contact their clients overseas without any problem by not contacting their clients at the wrong time. It is very helpful so that we are not disturbing other people precious time.

For a businessman who like to plan and manage their appointments and datelines, what they should do is just find the calendar in their handphones and set the date and put as reminder so you will be kept remembering the date efficiently.

Business personnel can easily access to their account or do online banking using their handphone or mobile phone. They can do money transfer, check the account balance and any other things related to online banking.

Nowadays, it is not difficult to register or doing surveys in our handphone, just go to Google.doc application and any company can make their online survey. They can get quick result and also no need for papers and pen and person to distribute the survey forms. With one tap on the touch screen handphone, many people can answer and view the survey. It will reduce time consuming, and save the environment because it is paperless and no transportation needed.

Business person who has Mediafire application in their handphone can use it to do online storerage where we can save and share our documents to be view by us everywhere and also can be viewed by public. Another alternative to share files, documents and videos is to use Dropbox.

Other parties can view our documents in close assess without any problem to save it in thumbdrive or laptop.

For those who have a sophisticated handphone or mobile phone, PDAs device are used to be part of the call management system where the business personnel is able to update their online faxes and incoming call, call forwarding, call screening, voice-mail service, auto attendant, and desktop call control at any time and any place and it is mobilize. It is free and cost efficiently.

Polaris Application in handphone acted like Microsoft Office. Businessmen can use this to type documents, to come out with tables, graph and figures, brochure, phamplet, invitation cards and even to come out with Powerpoint presentation. Business personnel can create their document on the go either in the car or in any transportation, in a coffee shop, at home and even in the washroom.

If you are a Samsung Galaxy user, the handphone provides an application named as Galaxy Beam. Its function as a projector is to help the user to project their slides or documents in a meeting without having any difficulty carrying heavy LCD projector.

For the businessmen who use Android phones firstly created or designed by Google, the phone acted as a robot to help them to improve their life. Actually, Androids is the name of the operating system which operates the phone. It is packed with powerful new Bluetooth applications. Androids systems could connect to every kind of appliances in the office or at home. The user can even lock the office doors after we left the office and there is nothing that Android cannot do.

Most people especially businessmen are required to access business content or document outside of the office, but at the same time, they are frustrated by their phones limitation especially the storage capacity limitation. When, we or specifically businessmen download Box in our handphone or mobile phone, all the worries are the thing which is past. Box is a cloud storage which allows us to have a simple and secure sharing from any place that we like. Organizing and accessing work files or documents are free from hassle at this moment. While away from the office or travelling, businessmen can access all of their work and media content: documents, spreadsheets, and images directly from their mobile phone. Businessmen can facilitate internal collaboration and share files or documents with external contacts from their own mobile phone for productivity on-the- go after once the files and folders are centralized and uploaded to their Box account.

If a company would like to search for candidates or potential employee, they can do the on-line interview using life video or they can even ask the candidates to use Keek video to tell about themselves. Even more than that, employers could browse their candidates Facebook to know their candidates personal life, their friends and interests.

Last but not, it might be simple or unimportant, but games in handphone are also gives benefits the business personnel. If they are stress out or burn out and even tired of waiting for clients, they can play games to kill time and reduce stress. They can play as simple as poker, Angry Birds, Coin Dozer, Fruit Slice, Candy crush and many more. These games help the personnel to freshen up and give calmness and the personnel can be more focus after a short break.

In contrast, handphone or mobile phone usage in business has its own disadvantages and drawbacks such as intrusion and safety problem. The intrusion into face-to faces communications. A business personnel sometimes fails to prioritize personal interactions with

their clients or customers and even their own officemates or team mates. So, it is not use to overuse the handphone or mobile phone in business.

Other than that, another drawback is the safety issues and social issues. Some of the business personnel or field workers have to be alert in this safety issue because if they use handphone while driving or operating any machine, it will cause fatal accident and bad incident occurs.

During a conference call with our clients, we might face dropped calls and it will affect our image as an establish businessman. Not only that, if the signal or coverage is bad, we also will face an interruption in communication while dealing with our clients.

Moreover,if a business personnel use the handphone for other reasons such as family and friends matters, it will give a potencial distruption. They will use the handphone to call and texting family and friends. Furthermore, if the workers use the handphone for personal use such us Facebooking while working, playing games in the middle of important meeting and do online shopping at office will give bad impact to the company and business. They will be not focusing on the tasks and the work might be delay and not efficient at all.

When a business personnel is at home and the handphone keep on ringing, it will make a business personnel in stress and no private life. It will give an effect to the mental health of the worker. It might ruin their quality and precious time with their family members and friends. Relaxation is not obtain and the worker or business personnel might easily stress and under pressure.

The most dangerous drawback is, if a businessman lost his or her handphone, the tendency to lost many files or documents is bigger. Other people can easily google us and know everything about us and we are going to be in trouble if we do not have any back up documents and safety precautions.

Handphone is not just a tool or device to talk to other person. It is beyond than that. It can do more complex operations and it is the gateway or link to the internet. We can tap into a world of endless possibilities. It helps businessmen a lot as long as they are able to connect to the internet. Good communication is essential to successful business practices. Not only that, it is time consuming efficient, reduce cost, convinient and very efficient. So, use handphone or mobile phone with guidelines to grow and boom your business.

As for recommendation, the use of handphone can be more secure if users are well informed over the safety of using it. Talks and conferences can be the ways to have the users well informed about medical safety of handphones. As the internet may enable the users talk on the phone for free for longer time (maybe 2-3 hours as long as the battery endures) the effects on the users health may be greater than in the era of charged calls. The rumors about getting cancer, hyper stress and hearing problem can be addressed better to avoid misinformation over the public.

Secondly, manufacturers also have to comply certain health requirement and specification on the product they produced. There were cases of battery explosion, burning and electric shock over the use because some companies do not have proper guidelines and safe specifications on products they produced. Heaps of cheap products from China and Taiwan also can be the threat on handphone users all over the world. Thus, the government must take action to come out with certain guidelines, ruled by commission of communication of a country to deal with these issues.

Thirdly, handphone with internet may also causing stirs in a community by its advantage to spread false new through social network. So, the authority must lay down rules to avoid such thing disturbs the peace and order of a country. As what happened in some parts of the world, the use of communication device like laptops and the internet can be a recipe for disasters. The regime changes in a few Middle East countries are caused by the usage of social network. As right as it can be, it still causing bad effects on people as there are lives sacrificed and there are people losing jobs just because there are misuse of technology and denying the rule of law and the honor of democracy.
