Surround Mix
A Waking Dream

A Waking Dream is a short film by Nick Jones about escaping the four-walls of technology driven life and experiencing nature. I created the original score for the piece, mixed in 5.1 Surround. I used a variety of acoustic percussion samples in combination with soft synth basses and heavily effected bells for the melody. My goal was to create a breathing, organic rhythm with hints of technology forming a sort of bed the score.

Sound Design
Nothing Personal
Nothing Personal was a short film I created for a Sound Design class at the Art Institute of Atlanta. I acted as director, production sound engineer, video editor, post engineer, and sound designer. The script was adapted from a royalty-free screenplay titled Crawlspace by Cameron Mitchell. The story is told in an a linear fashion, cutting back and forth between present day and the near past. I wanted the sound design to match this confusing aspect right up until the reveal of the killer at the end. At first, the listener hears the muffled, up beat music, only to find that it's actually coming from the killer's radio. As soon as the radio cuts off, the audience is bombarded with a low, ominous score and screeching tones to convey the urgency and horror of the protagonist's fate. The video was shot on a single Canon XL1S camera, and the production audio was captured on tape, using an Audio-Technica AT897 condenser microphone. The final video edit was done using Final Cut 7.

Post Production
Cantaia!

Catania! is a feature-length comedy written and directed by Doug Bremner. It details the chaos and hilarity that ensues when five sisters return to Sicily to divide up their family's art and antiques. I did more than half of the post production audio for the picture, as well some sound design and rererecording.

Original Game
The Faceless
The Faceless is a first-person survival horror game in development for Windows, Mac, and iOS (currently iPad only), that draws inspiration from the Slenderman mythos. It is being coded in GML script and compiled to C++, and Objective-C to support various platform. I did all of the programming and audio, while the 3D models and textures have been pulled from various royalty-free sources. The main focus of this game is creating an immersive atmosphere, filled with tension and mystery. The audio is programmed to fit into the 3D environments in a realistic manner, as well as offering some surreal ambient effects, like omnipresent static and pure tones. The player's field-of-view is limited by a flickering flashlight to increase the sense of isolation.

Original Game
Tranquility
Tranquility is 2D side-scrolling platformer in development for HTML5, iOS, and Android devices. It was originally created for the Game Maker Community's 6 th Jam, a competition where entrant's are given 72 hours to create a game entirely from scratch limited by a random theme and handicap revealed at the competition's start. The theme for this jam was Tranquil and the handicap was Must use Achievements. I tried to instill a sense of tranquility into the game by using simple, but styled visuals, complemented by a smooth soundtrack. The game features various synthesized, slowattack sounds and ambient music as the player explores a forest populated by rampaging bears. Players are awarded points by unlocking achievements, which can be used to purchase various upgrade for subsequent playthroughs. This allows access to new areas and more difficult enemies.

Original Game
R'lyeh
R'lyeh is 2D puzzle in development for HTML5, iOS, and Android devices. It was originally created for the Game Maker Community's 8th Jam, a competition where entrant's are given 72 hours to create a game entirely from scratch limited by a random theme and handicap revealed at the competition's start. The theme for this jam was Disaster and the handicap was Game cannot use text R'lyeh is inspired by H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos, a series of stories about strange creates and horrific alien ideas, a true icon of disaster. The player must manipulate blocks to create a path and reach the goal, all the while avoiding the ever-rising lava. There are mysterious signs that the player may collect to unlock alternate endings that may affect the fate of the world. The audio and visuals are meant to have a sort of retro feel, mainly due to the timeconstraints during development. The puzzle's are reminiscent of traditional Sokoban games, with physics inspired by Atlus' Catherine to create a more tactile and unique experience.

Land Tied

Spirits and the Melchizedek Children is a local indie-rock band fronted by singer/guitarist Jason Elliott. Land Tied is an emotionally driven song about his son, featuring clean, ambient guitars, overdriven keyboards, and a haunting vocal performance that resonate in a deep and passionate performance. The challenge in mixing this track was keeping the indie garage band sound, while still making the recording sound clean and professional. It was tracked on 2-inch tape using a 24 -track Studer tape machine and mixed in Pro Tools 8 HD, using a combination of modern and vintage outboard gear, as well a variety of digital plug-ins.

Surround Mix
Colony of Birchmen

This a 5.1 surround remix of Mastodon's, Colony of Birchmen. The stems were obtained unmixed and unmastered from the video game Rock Band, developed by Harmonix Music Systems. The challenge in translating the song into a surround environment came from finding appropriate spacing for each voice, as well as deciding how they need to move throughout the piece. Most of the rhythmic elements stay in place while the lead vocal is playing, which is typically replaced by a lead guitar. To add some subtle motion to the song, I pan the call and response back-up vocals from the background to the foreground during the choruses.
