Calling exchange NPI: the calling MSC triggers the CRBT service by the roaming number identifier (obtained from the HLR). Calling exchange SS_CODE: the calling MSC triggers the CRBT service by the supplementary service code. Called exchange SS_CODE: the called MSC triggers the CRBT service by the supplementary service code. AIP prefix triggering-GMSC: to avoid the alternative route restricting the AIP, the CRBT service is triggered by the GMSC. This mode is seldom used. WIN ALERTING PATTERN: for Thailand. WIN CONNECT: Use the intelligent network to trigger the CRBT service.

MGW Calling(G)MSC
Figure 7-1 Networking of the CRBT service with alternative route In this networking, the MSOFTX3000 works as the (G)MSC Server, the UMG8900 works as the MGW. Both of them work as the calling (G)MSC. The CRBT is implemented as follows.
z z
The HLR sets the special subscription information for CRBT subscribers. After the (G)MSC obtains the route information, it will judge whether the called subscriber is the CRBT subscriber based on the called subscription information sent from the HLR. If yes, the (G)MSC will route the call to the CRBT service platform of the called.
The CRBT service platform bridges the call to the called MSC/VLR, and replaces the traditional ring back tone sent by the called MSC/VLR with the customer-defined ring back tone.
During the call, the CRBT service platform keeps the call in the bridged status.
The advantage of this solution is: there is little change to the existing network. The disadvantage is: the route shall be forwarded to the CBRT service platform, which shall occupy a great number of trunk circuits. Moreover, there shall be the voice circuit bottle net at the CBRT service platform. This solution is suitable for the initial stage of the CBRT service when there are not so many subscribers.

Calling(G)MSC
Called MSC/VLR
Figure 7-2 Calling exchange solution In this networking, the CBRT is implemented as follows:
z z
The HLR sets the special subscription information for CRBT subscribers. After the (G)MSC obtains the route information, it will judge whether the called subscriber is the CRBT subscriber based on the called subscription information sent from the HLR.
If the called is the CBRT subscriber, create the connection between the call and the called MSC. The called MSC returns the ring signaling, and broadcasts the common ring back tone. After the calling (G)MSC receives the ring signaling, it will screen the common ring back tone broadcasted by the called MSC. The (G)MSC originates a call to the CRBT service platform, and bypasses the call to the platform.
z z
The CRBT service platform broadcasts the customer-defined CRBT. After the called answers the call, the calling (G)MSC disconnects the circuit to the CRBT service platform, and connects to the circuit to the called MSC. The calling and called communicate by the normal procedure. Called exchange solution
2)
In this solution, the CBRT service is triggered at the called MSC side, as shown in Figure 7-3.

MSC Server
Calling (G)MSC
Figure 7-3 Called exchange solution In this networking, the CBRT service is implemented also in the same way as the calling exchange solution. The difference is that the CBRT subscriber is identified by the subscription information stored in the VLR of the called MSC. The subscription information is sent to the called MSC from the HLR during the position update procedure.

Figure 7-4 Signaling procedure of the calling exchange solution The following describes the signaling procedure: 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) The calling MSC receives the Setup message of the calling subscriber; or the GMSC receives the IAM signaling coming from another network. The calling (G)MSC originates the SRI operation to the called HLR after the calling (G)MSC determines the called number is the MSISDN. The HLR originates the PRN operation to the called MSC. After the called MSC allocates the MSRN for the called, it will return the PRN ack (containing the MSRN) to the HLR. The HLR returns the SRI ack to the MSC. The SRI ack contains the MSRN and special subscription information of the CRBT service. At present, there are two types of subscription information. One is to set the supplementary service code to 254, the other is to set the MSRN coding plan to 2.

6)
The calling MSC adds the CBRT tag to the call according to the special subscription information of the CBRT service, and sends the IAM to the called MSC through the MSRN.
7) 8) 9)
After the called MSC receives the call response from the called subscriber, the called MSC will sends the Setup message to the called subscriber. After the called is connected successfully, it will ring, and return the Alerting message. The called MSC returns the ACM to the calling (G)MSC. The subscriber is idle. The called MSC begins broadcasting the common ring back tone.
10) The calling MSC sends the Altering message to the calling mobile subscriber, or the GMSC sends the ACM to exchanges in other networks. 11) The calling (G)MSC bypasses the circuit connected to the called MSC according to the CBRT tag set in Step 6. At the same time, the calling (G)MSC sends the IAM to the CBRT platform. The called number is route prefix + called MSISDN. 12) The CBRT service platform returns the ACM to the calling (G)MSC according to the CBRT voice code. 13) The CBRT service platform returns the ANM to the calling (G)MSC, and begins broadcasting the CBRT. In some carriers, the CBRT service platform does not returns the ANM, but broadcasts the CBRT directly. At this time, the calling subscriber can hear the customer-defined CBRT. 14) After the called answers, it will send the Connect message to the called MSC. 15) The called MSC returns the ANM to the calling (G)MSC. 16) The calling MSC sends the Connect message to the calling subscriber, or the GMSC sends the ANM to exchanges in other networks. At the same time, the calling (G)MSC bypasses the CBRT circuit, and connects to the circuit of the called MSC so that the calling and called can communicate with each other. 17) The calling (G)MSC sends the REL to the CBRT service platform to disconnect the circuit. The release cause value is Normal. 18) The CBRT service platform returns the release acknowledgement message RLC.

Note: Before the data configuration, set the software parameters under the instruction of Huawei engineers.
If the MSC needs to trigger the CBRT service, you need to configure the signaling and trunk data to the CBRT service platform. The configuration is the same as the common MSC office direction. There are many solutions to implement the CBRT service. Some typical solutions will be described here.
[Call Prefix]: configure it according to the actual situation. [Service attribute]: select Local Toll. [Route selection code]: configure the route selection code to the CBRT service platform. Configure it according to the actual situation. [Maximum number length]: Configure it according to the actual situation. [Minimum number length]: Input 32. [Called number type]: Select PSTN. Use the default values for other options.
