GUIDELINES FOR CONTRIBUTORS

The International Journal of Islamic Thoughts (IJITs) publishes scholarly articles, research notes, and review articles -- whether empirical or theoretical -- dealing with political, social, economic, and strategic developments in the Muslim world. Contributors to IJITs should abide by the following guidelines: 1. Articles should be scholarly and of relevance to issues faced by Muslim communities. IJITs has a firm policy of not considering material that has already been published or has been concurrently submitted elsewhere. 2. Articles should be between 6,000 and 9,000 words. Articles should also include: a. An abstract, written concisely and clearly, of no more than 250 words. It should outline the purpose of the research, the significance of the study, the design, methodology or approach used, the findings, and limitations of the study. b. Five to six keywords describing the essence of the article. Keywords will increase the number of people viewing the article and will increase the number of times the article will be found in search engines. 3. Review article should compare several books and contain the reviewers analysis of the problem under investigation. Reviewers must define and clarify the problem, summarize the findings of previous research to inform the readers of the state of current research, identify the gaps or inconsistencies in the literature and suggest the steps in solving the problem under investigation. Review articles should not exceed 5,000 words. 4. Short Note should advance a new idea or approach to seeking solution to a problem. It should be between 3,000 and 4,000 words (but up to 5,000 may be accepted under certain conditions). It must adhere to the research paper instructions regarding e.g., referencing and bibliographic information. 5. A book review describes and evaluates the quality, meaning and significance of a book. It should focus on the book's purpose, content, and authority. It should include the complete citation for the work with an introduction that sets the tone of the review and a conclusion assessing the book. Authors should review books published in the last three or four years. Length of text should be around 900-1100 words. The journal does not publish opinion pieces or narratives of a current affairs or journalistic nature. An abstract together with a brief author profile (150 words or less) should accompany the submission. The authors name and affiliation must not appear on the main body of the manuscript, but only on a separate cover sheet. Submissions can be made by e-mail, or by regular mail. Please use a standard proportional font such as Times or Times New Roman, 12-point size, and 1inch/2.5-centimeter margins on all sides.
