Africa
in
Cuba
represents
the
rst
5me
that
a
collec5on
of
African
Cuban
art
has
been
exhibited
in
South
Florida
and
in
many
way
reects
a
minute
introduc5on
to
the
vast
and
exci5ng
world
of
Afro-Cuban
art.
Mr.

has
curated
African

La5n
America,
the

and
the
United
States.
Edmund
Abaka
is
a
historian
and
a
documentary
photographer.
He
believes
that
the
strength
of
African
culture,
the
oppressive
eects
of
slavery
notwithstanding,
can
be
found
in
the
re-crea5on
of
African
socie5es
in
the
Americas,
the
Caribbean
and
other
places.
Presently,
African
diaspora
art
ranks
among
some
of
the
best
masterpieces
of
our
5me.
African
diaspora
arts,
in
par5cular,
have
global
signicance
not
only
in
song,
dance
and
music
but
also
in
photography,
pain5ngs,
craRs,
and
other
ar5s5c
crea5ons
in
general..
My
interest
in
Africa
in
Cuba
stems
from
this
desire
to
showcase
the
African
diaspora
contribu5on
to
global
culture.
Dr.
Pa?

will
discuss

pieces,
which
provide

Her
