Two PhD students bag Outstanding Teacher Award Two students of the Doctorate programs of DMMMSU-College of Graduate Studies,

Agoo were among the recipients of the 2011 Ten Outstanding Teachers of La Union, awarded on October 6, 2011 at the Diego Silang Hall, City of San Fernando, La Union. Mr.Oscar D. Gatchallan, a student in Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Administration, and Mr. Jimmie C. Eslabra, a student in Doctor of Philosophy in Science Education, emerged as one of the ten winners upon substantially satisfying the qualifications based on the evaluation guidelines and merit-based selection provided under the SangguniangPanlalawigan Ordinance 01-2007. Gatchallan and Eslabra, both teaching science subjects in the secondary level and elementary level, respectively, captured the attention of the selection committee with their exemplary performance and commitment in providing excellent public service by providing quality education to the youth. These were all shown in the documents they submitted to the selection committee. When asked of their secrets, they shared that it is their passion for teaching and their innovativeness that brought them towards achieving the most sought-afterdistinction. Lad-ey ranks 3rd in Licensure Exam for Counselors; DMMMSU got 100% passing rate Ms.Maricris P. Lad-ey led the batch of DMMMSU-CGS successful examinees as she placed third, National level, in the 2011Guidance Counselor Licensure Examination given by the Professional Regulation Commission in Manila on August 2011. Lad-ey, a graduate of Master of Arts in Guidance Counselling, garnered a general average of 84.25% in the said examination which put her to the list of examinees who garnered the ten highest places. Three other MAGAC graduates also took and passed the said examinationwhich made DMMMSU one of the schools which posted a 100% passing rate. They are Ms. Maureen C. Rivera, Ms. Imelda G. Seno and Ms.Katejah M. Purisima. According to PRC, there were 125 out of 249 examinees that passed the said licensure examination. CGS conducts Leadership and Governance Seminar (edit) The College of Graduate Studies, Agoo Center, initiated a Seminar on Governance, Leadership and Quality Assurance for Globalizationon July 6, 2011 at the DMMMSU College Library, Audio-Visual Room. With the view of enhancing the must-have characteristics of educators to effectively meet the demands of the Generation Y students, the said seminar was organized by the students enrolled in PhD in Educational Administration, PhD in Mathematics Education and PhD in Science Education. It was participated in by both the students and faculty of the Graduate College. Dr. Gismo V. Agulan, President and CEO of the Behavioural Coaching and Training Academy, a master trainer and an international speaker, served as the keynote speaker.

CGS Christmas Party Rocks JDA Hall

Yuletide season is both a sacred religious holiday and a worldwide cultural and commercial phenomenon. People around the world have been observing it with traditions and practices that are both religious and secular in nature. Popular customs include exchanging gifts, decorating Christmas trees, attending church, sharing meals with family and friends and a party. The party, at times, becomes the highlight of the season. Concepts on how to organize said event is even crucial for those people who would like to make the event memorable. On 17 December 2011, JDA Hall rocks with fun, laughter, and memories, as the College of Graduate Studies celebrates their Christmas Party. A day filled with lot of surprises, of which, Bunot Mo, Regalo Mo and the Christmas Jingle Contest, are among the activities. The party observed a simple program which is concluded by the Bunot Mo, Regalo Mo, of which the faculty and staff have received gift items which have been funded by the students of the different disciplines; and a Christmas Jingle contest, which relived the spirit of Christmas, the Filipino culture and tradition, as emphasized on the creative lyrics of the contestants. The successful implementation of the party has been evident on the deafening laughter of the students and faculty as they get to rock JDA Hall.

CGS SBO Officers Gets Inducted


Make a Difference, Be a Part from the Start, this has been the theme during the Induction and Orientation Program of the College of Graduate Studies held on 3 September 2011 at the DMMMSU-GSC Audio-visual room. Outgoing president, Nestor Ulpindo of MDA posts challenge to the newly elected officers. He said that the newly elected officers should establish partnership with the CGS administration, which may serve as a bridge between CGS administrators and students; and to initiate programs and activities that will benefit the majority. This challenge is accepted by the incoming president Eduard M. Albay of PhD Math Ed. He has accepted the challenge by leaving an inspiration to the CGS students that his task as a leader requires focus on what he can give rather than what he can get. On his first day, as a leader, he has already enumerated a lot of activities which he has to undertake, among are: conduct of seminars, acquisition of instructional materials like LCD projectors and monoblock chairs, and a celebration of a Christmas party.

OBJECTIVES
DMMMSU College Graduate Studies shall always endeavor to fulfill the following objectives:

1. To develop competent human resources in the different disciplines with the needed expertise and leadership to support the regional and national agenda; 2. To strengthen desirable values in the profession as a dynamic change agent for sustainable development;

3. To promote quality research development; and 4. To develop highly qualified and innovative entrepreneurs who shall contribute to the socio-economic growth of the country and the Region.

Program Objectives Doctor of Philosophy 1. Provision of a continuing and advance professional development for MA/MS graduates, highlevel administrators and teachers with the Filipino Culture and consistent values in a global society of rapid change. 2. Development in the human resource, the culture of research and development and extension (R & D). 3. Institution of leadership in the field of education and administration for quality human force in the service area and the country as a whole. Master of Arts 1. Provision of advanced professional training and experience to teachers and administrators consistent with the Filipino culture and values in a global society of rapid change. 2. Development of instructional strategies appropriate for the total development of the Filipino youth. 3. Development of educators and teachers on indigenous Filipino administrative processes and management tools designed to improve quality education. 4. Promotion and provision of knowledge, attitudes and skills in research and extension within strategies and approaches effective to the clienteles and end-users.

Ph.D. in Educational Administration 1. Empower high-level school managers and other professionals with the necessary knowledge, skills and competence related to administration and to cope with changes and the increasing complexity of managing agencies/organizations.

2. Retool educators/administrators and professionals in the enhancement of development in the area, the Region and the country and global community as a whole. 3. Develop the capability of students in their profession and work directed towards sustaining quality administration within private and public governance/management of institution. 4. Provide for the continuing faculty and staff development program of the University and other educational institution a course to equip educators, administrators, and other professionals with recent trends and innovations in educations. 5. Promote research strategies, community extension and innovative skills and approaches to administrators, leaders and teachers for effective and quality services. 6. Develop leadership in educational and other fields of administration, particularly in the students area of concern, research and extension/community services.

Ph. D. in Mathematics Education 1. Produce globally competitive mathematics teachers equipped with knowledge, skills, attitudes and values needed in response to the demands of a rapidly changing society. 2. Help uplift the quality of life in the community through its extension activities. 3. Verify or expand existing knowledge and find answers to problem through its research activities. 4. Serve as laboratory for the production of instructional materials and educational media for mathematics instruction. 5. Provide a professional development program for graduates of MA in Mathematics Education and other similar courses.

Master of Arts in Physical Education 1. To provide opportunities for the teacher in Physical Education to enrich their leadership capabilities, teaching skills and knowledge in the conduct and organization of physical education and sports activities. 2. To prepare others for sports related careers in the field other than teaching. 3. To assist in the national development program of the BPESS of developing top-level or competent physical education coordinator, supervisors and sports managers.
