INTRODUCTION TO INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

COURSE DESCRIPTION This course is designed to provide an introduclion to informalion lechnology concepts and careers as well as the impact information technology has on the world, people, and industry and basic web design concepts. The content includes information technology career research; operating systems and software applications; electronic communicalions including e-mail and lnternet services; basic HTML, DHTML, and XML web commands and design; emerging technologies, and Web page design. lf taken as part of the lnformation Technology program (8207300), afler successful completion of this course, studenls will have met Occupational Completion Point A, lnformalion Technology Assislant, SOC Code 15-1041

Students may require access to a compuler afler school or during weekends for addilional remedialion. Software applications are compleled lhrough web based online simulation software and students may need to download Adobe Flash (free of charge) in order to use the needed software. Please allow your children to download and use the program, practice and remediation ensures their success in this class for lndustry Certification.
GRADES Due to the nature of this course, an emphasis will be placed on the studenls' ability to work individually and as a team lo complete coursework. The course grading system is based on the following

Students attend leadership conferences, participate in fundraising activities, and earn community service hours.
