Phonics
Review
This week in phonics we will continue to review sss, aaa, ttt, iii, nnn, ppp, ccc/kkk, hhh, eee, rrr, mmm, ddd. Blending the sounds of the Jolly Phonics program has proved to be a great success. We will be reviewing all of the blended sounds using the above sounds. Students will always have a fresh reminder of all two letter blend sounds as we have started putting up our word wall of all of the words we can sound out.
New (letters/sounds/vocabulary)
This week we will continue blending the third six sounds of the Jolly Phonics program. Due to a shortened week and missed classes the third set of blending is still new to the students. Letter sounds include: ggg, ooo, uuu, lll, fff, and bbb. The following are the two letter blended sounds we will be learning in preparation for reading three letter words. These are not necessarily words, but it gets students used to blending. When we add three letter words, it will be much easier for them.
Writing Practice
We will continue to practice writing in our writing books. Last week we didnt complete the writing practice we aimed for, so this week we will learn how to form the letters j and k correctly. We will practice writing the letters j and k by tracing dot to dot pages in the writing book.
Sight Words
Students are currently not doing sight words.
