Ring Road is a two-mile, circular route that serves as the only way to and from campus. Often called the ring, this thoroughfare separates the academic part of campus from the first-year residence halls, athletics complex, public safety station, and observatory. The Karam Campanile is a free-standing bell tower that chimes every 15 minutes. It was designed by Paul Rudolph to mark the center of the campus. The antenna atop the tower broadcasts the universitys radio station WUMD 89.3 FM to Southern Massachusetts, Cape Cod and Rhode Island. The much-loved UMass Dartmouth mascot is the Corsair. This pirate mascot represents the adventurous and courageous spirit of our student athletes and scholars.
