FACTORIES & MACHINERY ACT(FMA) 1967 & ITS REGULATIONS

Training Overview
Factories and Machineries Act (FMA ) came into force in 1967, to provide for the control of factories with respect to matters relating to safety, health and welfare of persons at work and to provide control on registration and inspection of machinery. The Act applies only to premises defined within it, notably factories and construction sites. For those affected sites, understanding FMA 1967 is very important to ensure compliance. However, a point to note here would be that the Occupational safety and Health Act (OSHA), 1994, supersedes the Factories and Machinery Act 1967 in the event of any conflict and inconsistency between the two laws. This training programme is developed to provide in depth knowledge on the requirements of FMA 1967 and its Regulations. The objective of the programme is to help the participants to better understand on what actions to be carried out to comply to FMA 1967 and its Regulations. At the end of the programme, the participants will be able to understand the legislative requirements and its liabilities under FMA 1967, describe the control of factories with respect to matters pertaining to the safety, health and welfare of persons, understand and comply with the registration and inspection of machinery, fulfill the notification of accident, dangerous occurrence and dangerous diseases procedures and to describe the penalties for those who contravene the law.
