ABB Manual Motor Protection Devices

ABB Manual Motor Protection Devices are electromechanical devices for motor and circuit protection. ABB Manual Motor Protectors offer local motor disconnects, manual ON/OFF control, and protection against short circuit overload and phase loss conditions. ABB Manual Motor Protection saves cost, panel space, and ensures quick and reliable short-circuit protection by reacting within milliseconds. ABB Manual Motor Protection Devices come in four distinct types: Type MS116, Type MS132, Type MS45x, and Type MS49x. The type of ABB Manual Motor Protection chose depends on the type of motor, how power the motor is and what type of current needs to be managed.

ABB Manual Motor Protector Types.

Below is a description of the different types of ABB Manual Motor Protection Devices:

Type MS116: This type of ABB Manual Motor Protection Device is suitable for sue with single and three phase motors up to 25hp. It is also suitable as a motor disconnect in single motor applications and group motor installations as outlined in NEC. There are 15 thermal setting ranges from 0.16 to 32 Amperes. This type of ABB Manual Motor Protector has short circuit current ratins of up to 30 kA. Type MS132: This type of manual motor protector is suitable for use with single and three phase motors up to 25 hp. It is also suitable as motor disconnect in single motor applications and group motor installations as outlined in NEC. This type of ABB Manual Motor Protection Device is suitable as a self-protected combination motor controller. There are 15 thermal setting ranges from 0.16 to 32 Amps. This type of ABB Manual Motor Protector has short circuit current ratings of up to 65 kA. Type MS45x: This type of manual motor protector is suitable for use with single and three phase motors up to 50hp. It is also suitable as motor disconnect in single motor applications and group motor installations as outlined in NEC. There are 3 thermal setting ranges from 28 to 50 Amps. This type of ABB Manual Motor Protection Device has short circuit current ratings of up to 65 kA. Type MS49x: This type of manual motor protector is suitable for use with single and three phase motors up to 100hp. It is also suitable as motor disconnect in single motor applications and group motor installations as outlined in NEC. There are 6 thermal setting ranges from 28 to 100 Amps. This type of ABB Manual Motor Protector has short circuit current ratings of p to 65 kA.

Choosing an ABB Manual Motor Protection Device.

When choosing the appropriate ABB Manual Motor Protector, always ask the following questions: 1. Is the environment harsh with dust, moisture, or other chemicals? 2. What is the peak and lowest current that the ABB Manual motor Protector will have to manage? 3. How much horsepower is needed to control the circuit that the motor protector will control? 4. How many circuits are being controlled? 5. What type of motor is the ABB Manual Motor Protector going to be connected to? 6. How many amps will be managed? 7. Are there any special circumstances that might require any other special considerations?
