THE FUTURE WE WANT INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE GLOBAL ETHICS: SAVE THE PLANET EARTH

Date and venue: Participants: Astana, Kazakhstan, 22-23 August 2013 Philosophers, academics, artists, business community, civil society from Central Asia, Asia-Pacific and Europe, UNESCO experts on ethics and intercultural communication, youth education and cultural heritage. Promotion of sustainable development through global ethics based on universal human rights, intercultural dialogue and social justice for all". The deadline for achieving the Millennium Development Goals, elaborated by world leaders in 2000, is fast approaching. This deadline notwithstanding, the values and principles embodied in the Millennium Declaration remain a solid foundation for meeting global challenges; they will continue to guide the global development agenda well beyond 2015. Philosophers, educators, civil society representatives, business community members and youth participants in the conference will discuss ways to promote sustainable development and a global ethics agenda in the post2015 world. As part of the conference, the youth section of the UNESCO club movement will conduct workshops and lectures covering various economic and social topics, focusing on the promotion of mutual understanding, respect for basic human rights and the rule of law.
