Ping (packet internet groper) is a computer network administration utility used to test the reachability of a host on an Internet Protocol (IP) network and to measure the round-trip time for messages sent from the originating host to a destination computer. The name comes from active sonar terminology which sends a pulse of sound and listens for the echo.
You must need to know first the following 1. IP Address of the NodeB 2. IP Address of the RNC 3. IP Address of the Gateway or Next hop IP 4. Subnet Mask of NodeB IP 5. Site VLAN ID
Using LMT. In MML command line, type in 1. LST IPPATH to get NodeB and RNC IP 2. or LST DEVIP to get NodeB IP and Subnet Mask 3. LST IPRT to get Gateway or Next hop IP 4. LST VLANCLASS to get site VLAN ID
To PING NodeB: Destination IP : Source IP: To PING Gateway: Destination IP: Source IP : To PING RNC: Destination IP: Source IP: Subnet Mask : Gateway IP : NodeB IP address Gateway or Next Hop IP Next hop IP NodeB IP RNC IP address NodeB IP address Subnet Mask of NodeB Next hop IP

Using LAPTOP Note: For Sites with VLAN Subrack ID number of MPT = 0 BTS3900 = 7 Using LMT software Make sure to put the VLAN ID onBTS3812=12 the LAN Advance settings thecommand PING line Type in, PING before to the MML

Using LAPTOP
Using CMD command line
Change the IP address of the laptop. IP address is the Source IP address
Press Start, Run, type in CMD and press ok Type in ping IP address t then see if successfull
NOTE:
During bootp process, YOU will not be able to Ping NodeB. Please check alarm BootP Startup. Reset NodeB first before proceeding to Ping NodeB.
